    Melissa perform is insane

A much better start than s1 , adding Melissa to the show will greatly improve the level.

As usual, Melissa is able to completely steal the camera in every scene due to her tremendous acting ability her eyes can act alone without anybwords she is the best to do this from the flagshow till this moment.

Ash and Carol oh my God, they are a very good duo they are really great together , I hope Ash can do it to the end he is a very good friend of Carol and a nice actor

Returning to the events of sophia delayed a lot but here we are now, Carol hasn't processed her loss and it's time to deal with this.

    Great ep.

    The Queen is back

Welcome back melissa!! Thank you for bringing me back to the Walking Dead Universe. Spin off!? The book of carol is the best yet!! The pace was perfect, the action, the comedy, the chemistry between ash and carol. Seeing Carol still grieving her daughter and going through the emotions brought tears to my eyes. Give Melissa more power, she knows what she's doing and she knows what we want. I'm really satisfied.

Yeah norman is playing himself, daryl is no where to be found on my screen, and its sad. He took 10 step back in his growth. Very OOC and too much like norman. Start hiding the tattoos.

    It's OK

TWD just really isn't anything special anymore, you can watch it but it will never be as good as 2010s, but what baffles me is the amount of 10/10 reviews, I mean come on, you're saying this episode is a perfect 10?

It's great to see Carol back in action it's been quite a while, this episode felt really dragged but it amused me a bit more towards the end.

Overall this episode felt very cliché and honestly it feels like they rely so much on callbacks it's a bit unnecessary.

This episode was pretty mediocre, but it wasn't terrible, and it certainly wasn't a 10, like I said, it's watchable, but the quality isn't really there.

The Walking Dead Universe Still Has Life

Great introduction episode, with some great intros to new characters. But i loved how the writers are immediately tapping into Daryl and Carol's unsolved grief and how they need each other.

This is arguably the biggest platonic relationship in TV history so i love to see their magnetic friendship

The dialogue is a lot better than last season. Loved some of the stunts and they brought back some of the suspense I had been missing. Really looking forward to this season.

The production design and stunts already feel refreshed from last season. Love seeing Melissa and Norman get producer credits. The France setting really gives the show a fish out of water feel that we haven't had in TWD. Overall this series proves that there's still a lot of life and untapped potential in The Walking Dead universe.

    Episode 201, Slightly below average

The Walking Dead returns with Daryl Dixon Season 2 (subtitled The Book of Carol). I'm beginning to believe anything titled The Book of Something is destined to be bad *looks at Book of Boba Fett* but jokes aside, this initial offering of this new season is horrendously, painfully dull!

I had no intention of watching this episode this morning or, honestly, even at all. I didn't even know this season started until just this morning. So I said what the hell? And threw it on, and now I'm wishing I had just gone to bed.

The writing in this episode is hilariously inept as our veteran survivor Carol (or Queen of the Apocalypse as fans dub her) gets herself stuck in situations as if she hasn't been in the Walker Apocalypse for ten-plus years. Losing weapons as our character stabs the walker in the head. Seriously stop letting go of the weapon! These corpses have to be so decayed by now that the brains and skulls of these things are mush. It's honestly fascinating that they're still walking. Also, walkers continuously appear out of nowhere without making a sound. When walkers surprised our survivors in the early years of the apocalypse in the original show, it made sense they weren't experienced, but we aren't at that stage anymore. Now, it's just an annoying horror trope.

Strangers, I guess, pose almost no threat anymore as show newcomer Ash (frankly the most interesting part of the episode), played admittedly well by Manish Dayal. Let Carol, a stranger, roam free of his home. It's nonsensical and retarded that this late in the apocalypse, people are still making these types of choices. Then by the end of the episode, Carol is just an a** to this good man for no reason. Lying to get what she wanted when telling him the truth would have undoubtedly led to him still helping her. I mean, this is a man who trusts a stranger so much that he lets her spend the night on his property without any supervision. I mean this man is just too good for this world.

Where is the survival instinct? Where is the common sense? It's mind-boggling that this episode is sitting on 8 out of 10 on IMDb. This is a far cry from the competent writing and storytelling The Walking Dead should be known for.

This episode just further proves how far gone The Walking Dead is. Boring, uneventful, and bland are all the qualities this once-great franchise has left. Maybe things will pick up as the season progresses but this season premiere left a lot to be desired.

    Final Score: 4/10.

While the scenes on the farm are set in America, the scenes were actually shot in France. Director Greg Nicotero stated that they had to find a farm that could pass as being American.
    • Goofs
When Carol leaves the gas station and takes the car she tells the 3 men that their friend Mick is in the trunk of a Dodge nearby, when he was put in the trunk (last scene in season 1) it was in a Ford Mustang.
