The movie is based on a novel by Manel Loureiro. There are two other novels by him continuing the story.
Manel explains that his cat Luculo is named for a Roman guard. But the Latin word "loculus" (from which "Luculo" is clearly derived) means "satchel" or "little space." The cat spends most of the movie locked up in either a small pet carrier or a backpack.
