Fox is moving “Family Guy” to midseason, marking the first time the animated staple hasn’t been on the network’s fall schedule since 2005 (when it returned to the air after being canceled for a few years). There’s plenty more where that came from, according to recently installed President of Unscripted Programming Allison Wallach. But, don’t expect a reality boom for the sake of it, she adds.

Wallach is overseeing her first fall schedule in her new role; the former boss of Fox Alternative Entertainment took over in December, replacing Rob Wade, who was named CEO of the company.

She has got off to a good start. The Masked Singer returned for Season 10 with an opener that featured old faces and a surprise performance by Demi Lovato before bringing in the new crop of secret celebrities.

The finale of “The Bachelorette” earned ABC a Monday night ratings win. The conclusion to the reality dating series snagged the highest rating of the night among the major broadcasters.

As audiences tuned in to see which lucky suitor Charity Lawson would choose to spend the rest of her life with, “The Bachelorette” season finale drew in an average 0.53 rating in the key broadcast demographic among adults 18-49 and a total viewership of 2.99 million, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day figures. The three-hour finale, which aired from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., led ABC to score the highest average viewership and rating of the broadcasters.

But watching the crew complete mission after mission on a rust-colored tundra only to return home in their space suits to an accurately-designed space station makes it easy to second guess. The stars themselves, some of whom have now spent weeks isolated in “space,” talk about their experience as if they truly are lightyears away from Earth.

The Bachelorette Season 20 got underway Monday night on ABC, and viewers are either tired of the franchise or forgot it was back.

The Bachelorette Season 20 Episode 1 had 1.9 million total viewers and a 0.3 rating.

In comparison to the premiere of The Bachelorette Season 19 (3 million/0.7 rating), the numbers are well down.

The next few weeks will determine whether people forgot the show was on or if the long-in-the-tooth franchise is headed for disaster.

Elsewhere on ABC night, Claim to Fame opened its sophomore season at 2.4 million viewers and a 0.4 rating, easily reaching its highest numbers yet.

Over on Fox, Stars on Mars continued with a little over 800,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating.

Crime Scene Kitchen followed with 1.1 million viewers and a 0.2 rating.

While the numbers are nothing to write home about, they are decent by summer standards -- in today's TV climate, at least.

The celebronauts aren’t going to be too happy with Mission Control William Shatner after what he shares in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the June 26 episode of Stars on Mars. “There’s been an emergency. We have detected a biological contaminant. That’s right, we’ve discovered life on Mars, and now it’s time for a bunch of celebrities to mercilessly annihilate it,” Shatner says in his newest message for the contestants. “If this mysterious organism gets into the food or water supply, the crew’s chance of survival will be minimal. This mission will test your perseverance and will earn you the mission patch. Lucky you,” he continues. “Because of the fire in the farm and dwindling rations due to overeating, two of your crew members must be extracted from the simulation tonight. Good luck, crew. I hope you know your way around a flamethrower.

Ariel Winter got off to a rough start on the Fox reality show Stars on Mars. The Modern Family star admitted that her worst fear was saying something embarrassing while on the series, and within her few minutes aboard the faux space station, that fear was realized. When cycling champion Lance Armstrong came aboard, she confused him for the late Neil Armstrong, pioneering astronaut. The good thing about instantly making such a huge fumble, though, was that she could only go up from there.

Now, she might be rising all the way to the top as the next base commander, in charge of leading the crew through 48 hours of trials and at least one emergency mission. An exclusive clip from tonight’s new episodes shows Winter’s fellow crew mates nominating her to take the lead.

The celebronauts’ night is rudely interrupted in the June 19 episode of Stars on Mars. TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek at the incident, with everyone rushing to evacuate! When a fire breaks out in the hab garden (due to an electrical surge), the computer alerts everyone to the emergency. With the computer telling them to evacuate, the stars quickly begin moving (and Porsha Williams Guobadia wakes), though there is, at first, a question of where to go. “You guys aren’t moving fast enough; there’s a fire!” Tinashe exclaims. “My goodness. Every day, it’s something,” Richard Sherman remarks. With the risk of an explosion detected, the celebronauts quickly put on their suits before hurrying outside. Weeks after wrapping the Vanderpump Rules Season 10 reunion, Schwartz signed up for the new Fox reality show Stars on Mars, about a group of celebrities dropped into conditions that mimic Mars. In the latest TV show ratings, NBC’s American Ninja Warrior tied ABC’s Celebrity Family Feud rerun for the Monday demo win, while the latter also delivered the night’s biggest audience.

NBC | Ninja Warrior opened Season 15 with just shy of 3 million total viewers and a 0.4 demo rating, right on par with last summer’s averages. Weakest Link led out of that with 1.9 mil and a 0.2.

As reality competition series go, Fox's Stars on Mars is as simulated as it gets. The show sees 12 celebrities — not the genre's usual B-listers, but legitimate stars including Olympian Adam Rippon, The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Porsha Williams Guobadia, and Vanderpump Rules stalwart Tom Schwartz — embark upon a "Mars isolation experiment" that tests their ability to survive on the red planet. For weeks, they're isolated in a man-made "space station" in the South Australian desert, venturing beyond the safety of their new home only to participate in "missions" assigned by host William Shatner. In keeping with the theme, Shatner, aka "Mission Control," appears in pre-taped segments; he can't even communicate with the group in real time, as there's "a 17-minute delay" between the Mars camp and Earth.

When you need someone to work Mission Control and communicate with a dozen celebrities living on Mars, who better than William Shatner? Star Trek’s iconic Capt. James T. It’s a new month, and Hulu subscribers are getting a slew of new movies and TV shows to enjoy.

June 1 is jam-packed with more than 30 titles that have landed on the streamer, including the seventh and final season of Ava DuVernay’s “Queen Sugar,” the Jack Nicholson-led film “Hoffa,” Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat” and the entire “Twilight” franchise.

Mixing in a little of the old with new come goodies from 2023, like “Flamin’ Hot,” which tells the story of Mexican migrant Richard Montanez who came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos while working as a janitor at Frito Lay. The film lands on Hulu June 9.

Ending June with a bang will the be second season of “The Bear,” (June 22), Season 20 of “The Bachelorette” (June 27) and the sixth and final season of “Grown-ish.”

Ahead of its Monday afternoon Upfront presentation, Fox did not unveil a fall schedule but instead released its overall line-up of programs for the entire 2023-24 TV season.

With the Writers Guild of America strike creating uncertainty about when production on shows might resume, and since no returning or new scripted Fox dramas have episodes in the can, the network said it would lock into a fall schedule at a later date.

Minimum local expenditure has risen to A20m for film; A1.5m per hour for TV.

Australia’s location offset, the financial incentive to attract international film and TV production, has been increased to 30%, in a surprise move by the Australian government.

Films spending at least A$20 million, up from A$15 million, in Australia on Australian goods and services can now claim back 30% of that on completion. The minimum threshold for television has increased from A$1m to A$1.5m per hour.

Producers will have to meet training obligations and use at least one Australian provider of post or visual effects.

Season one of Fox’s new reality series Stars on Mars will feature a couple of former Olympians, a Modern Family alum, and a Super Bowl champion. 12 celebrities will participate in what sounds like a space-themed Big Brother-style competition.
