New dramas include lifeguard actioner “Rescue: Hi-Surf,” from executive producer John Wells, which will air Mondays at 9 p.m. Et behind “9-1-1: Lone Star” and crime procedural “Murder in a Small Town,” which will run Tuesdays at 9 p.m., paired with Season 2 of anthology series “Accused.” Later in the season will premiere medical drama “Doc,” based on the Italian series “Doc — Nelle tue mani” and starring Molly Parker.

When writing about a legend who’s still working as a nonagenarian, it’s almost obligatory to include a line about how they are seemingly busier than ever. William Shatner, 92, may no longer be on set 12 hours a day for the roles that made him the first Comic-Con celebrity (Star Trek), or that transformed him into a late-career regular at the Emmys podium (The Practice, Boston Legal), but it’s difficult not to marvel at the pace at which he lives his life.

The Masked Singer, the return of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Lego Masters and David Spade-hosted game show Snake Oil are among the slew of unscripted titles leading Fox’s fall schedule as the writers and actors strikes take a bite out of the scripted broadcast season.
There’s plenty more where that came from, according to recently installed President of Unscripted Programming Allison Wallach. But, don’t expect a reality boom for the sake of it, she adds.
Wallach is overseeing her first fall schedule in her new role; the former boss of Fox Alternative Entertainment took over in December, replacing Rob Wade, who was named CEO of the company.
She has got off to a good start. The Masked Singer returned for Season 10 with an opener that featured old faces and a surprise performance by Demi Lovato before bringing in the new crop of secret celebrities.

Ariel Winter to Stars on Mars: It’s time to blast off.
The Modern Family actress was the second celebrity in two weeks to bow out of the Fox reality show, which has cast celebs like Natasha Leggero, Marshawn Lynch, Adam Rippon, Ronda Rousey and Tallulah Willis to colonize, compete and conquer “Mars” until there is one victorious space invader, who will claim the title of “the brightest star in the galaxy.”
“I came here, I didn’t think I was going to make it past mission one,” the actress said on Monday’s Episode 10. “I’ve overcome a lot of things. I never thought I would rapell down a cliff. Absolutely not. But I loved being on this team. I even enjoyed missions, even hard ones, in a stupid ass suit. But as you know, I love the word fair. I was not mission critical today and I feel like I deserve to go.

The look of the Fox reality competition show Stars on Mars is uncanny. Of course “celebronauts” like Ariel Winters, Porsha Williams, and Adam Rippon aren’t actually in space. But watching the crew complete mission after mission on a rust-colored tundra only to return home in their space suits to an accurately-designed space station makes it easy to second guess. The stars themselves, some of whom have now spent weeks isolated in “space,” talk about their experience as if they truly are lightyears away from Earth.

In a word?
Whoa.
The Bachelorette Season 20 got underway Monday night on ABC, and viewers are either tired of the franchise or forgot it was back.
The Bachelorette Season 20 Episode 1 had 1.9 million total viewers and a 0.3 rating.
In comparison to the premiere of The Bachelorette Season 19 (3 million/0.7 rating), the numbers are well down.
The next few weeks will determine whether people forgot the show was on or if the long-in-the-tooth franchise is headed for disaster.
Elsewhere on ABC night, Claim to Fame opened its sophomore season at 2.4 million viewers and a 0.4 rating, easily reaching its highest numbers yet.
Over on Fox, Stars on Mars continued with a little over 800,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating.
Crime Scene Kitchen followed with 1.1 million viewers and a 0.2 rating.
While the numbers are nothing to write home about, they are decent by summer standards -- in today's TV climate, at least.
Over on NBC, American Ninja Warrior...

The celebronauts aren’t going to be too happy with Mission Control William Shatner after what he shares in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the June 26 episode of Stars on Mars. “There’s been an emergency. We have detected a biological contaminant. That’s right, we’ve discovered life on Mars, and now it’s time for a bunch of celebrities to mercilessly annihilate it,” Shatner says in his newest message for the contestants. “If this mysterious organism gets into the food or water supply, the crew’s chance of survival will be minimal. This mission will test your perseverance and will earn you the mission patch. Lucky you,” he continues. “Because of the fire in the farm and dwindling rations due to overeating, two of your crew members must be extracted from the simulation tonight. Good luck, crew. I hope you know your way around a flamethrower.

Ariel Winter got off to a rough start on the Fox reality show Stars on Mars. The Modern Family star admitted that her worst fear was saying something embarrassing while on the series, and within her few minutes aboard the faux space station, that fear was realized. When cycling champion Lance Armstrong came aboard, she confused him for the late Neil Armstrong, pioneering astronaut. The good thing about instantly making such a huge fumble, though, was that she could only go up from there.
Now, she might be rising all the way to the top as the next base commander, in charge of leading the crew through 48 hours of trials and at least one emergency mission. An exclusive clip from tonight’s new episodes shows Winter’s fellow crew mates nominating her to take the lead.

The celebronauts’ night is rudely interrupted in the June 19 episode of Stars on Mars. TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek at the incident, with everyone rushing to evacuate! When a fire breaks out in the hab garden (due to an electrical surge), the computer alerts everyone to the emergency. With the computer telling them to evacuate, the stars quickly begin moving (and Porsha Williams Guobadia wakes), though there is, at first, a question of where to go. “You guys aren’t moving fast enough; there’s a fire!” Tinashe exclaims. “My goodness. Every day, it’s something,” Richard Sherman remarks. With the risk of an explosion detected, the celebronauts quickly put on their suits before hurrying outside. Watch the clip above to see who’s rushing around (and who’s not), if everyone makes it outside, and what happens next. In the aptly-titled “Fire in the Hole,” the ten...

After Tom Schwartz filmed the most tumultuous Vanderpump Rules reunion in the reality show’s ten-year history, he fled more than 8,000 miles away to the small Australian town of Coober Pedy to take part in Fox’s new reality-competition series Stars on Mars. It didn’t take much to convince Schwartz to leave the drama of his friends and Bravo cast members behind.

Did Tom Schwartz just end his friendship with Tom Sandoval? Not really. Schwartz, who recently appeared on Stars on Mars said he’s gotten swept up in the Scandoval mess and needs a minute.
The Vanderpump Rules stars, whose bromance has been followed for 10 seasons, clearly need a break. Sandoval was busted for cheating on his longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix, with Raquel Leviss, who was a mutual close friend.
Schwartz became entangled in the debacle because as Sandoval’s best friend, some people believe he was complicit in hiding the affair and knew about it, but said nothing.
Obviously, Schwartz is angry with Sandoval for the way he handled the affair. But did he declare that he’s “permanently” ending his friendship with Sandoval? Eh.

Tom Schwartz had to “go to Mars” to get a break from the Vanderpump Rules Scandoval. Weeks after wrapping the Vanderpump Rules Season 10 reunion, Schwartz signed up for the new Fox reality show Stars on Mars, about a group of celebrities dropped into conditions that mimic Mars. They have to figure out how to live and survive.
Fresh off of the drama, Schwartz likely braced himself for a slew of questions from the cast. However, according to Olympian and Mars explorer Adam Rippon, the Stars on Mars cast generally weren’t too concerned about the Scandoval.
‘Nobody was really in on the Scandoval,’ Adam Rippon recalled

[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers for the Stars on Mars premiere, "The Experiment Begins."]
As reality competition series go, Fox's Stars on Mars is as simulated as it gets. The show sees 12 celebrities — not the genre's usual B-listers, but legitimate stars including Olympian Adam Rippon, The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Porsha Williams Guobadia, and Vanderpump Rules stalwart Tom Schwartz — embark upon a "Mars isolation experiment" that tests their ability to survive on the red planet. For weeks, they're isolated in a man-made "space station" in the South Australian desert, venturing beyond the safety of their new home only to participate in "missions" assigned by host William Shatner. In keeping with the theme, Shatner, aka "Mission Control," appears in pre-taped segments; he can't even communicate with the group in real time, as there's "a 17-minute delay" between the Mars camp and Earth.

When you need someone to work Mission Control and communicate with a dozen celebrities living on Mars, who better than William Shatner? Star Trek’s iconic Capt. James T. Kirk took his own real trip to space in October 2021, of course, so he’s in his element in Fox‘s Stars on Mars. “Right from the first time I had this concept, Shatner was in my head,” says creator and exec producer Chris Culvenor. “We were thrilled that he loved [the idea] as much as we did.” In the series, 12 famous crewmates, including former cyclist Lance Armstrong, figure skater Adam Rippon and Real Housewives’ Porsha Williams Guobadia, are sent to live in an authentic simulated Mars base (also known as the Australian Outback). Minimum local expenditure has risen to A20m for film; A1.5m per hour for TV.
Australia’s location offset, the financial incentive to attract international film and TV production, has been increased to 30%, in a surprise move by the Australian government.
