Jaari movies carries cultural reflection of eastern Nepali community with time reference of couples of decade ago. The movie is simple but beautiful. Most strong aspect of this movie is acting. Dayahang rai and Miruna Nagar nail the lead roles. Supporting characters also talented. Most of scenes look natural. Overall it is a well made movie. Able to reflect life of rural mountains of Nepal. Movie also has some humour scenes in between.
One thing to note is this film is not a mass entertainer genre. Movie does gets slow at some point. But overall experience is good. And well thought climax as well.

Upendra Subba's directorial debut in JAARI showcases his organic and witty writing style, which flows freely and shines throughout the film. However, the rough patch in the marriage of NAMSANG (played by Dayahang Rai) and Hangma (Miruna Magar) due to infertility is hurriedly portrayed, leaving little room for the audience to connect with the characters and understand their actions. The movie's duration should have been utilized more effectively to delve into this conflict and establish a deeper emotional connection. Despite this, the film's narrative post-conflict is smooth, with flawless characters, and moves forward like the stories of Upendra Subba. The patriarchal violence, though not handled properly, could have been made milder to justify the redemption arc and ensure that the movie does not promote toxic relationships or domestic violence. Two scenes, in particular, stand out- Dayahang's breakdown scene where Miruna consoles him and the climax where Palam shows how far anyone can go for love if its pure. Overall, JAARI is an excellent example of an organic Nepali movie that should not be missed.

Just love it. This is what we call movie. The best kinds of movies are the kinds that are so good that a person wants to be there. They want to be flying on a broom playing Quidditch with Harry Potter. They want to be riding a horse and whipping a whip with Indiana Jones. Movies like that are the ones that I love more than any other kind. My love of movies is so strong that it's affected my career choice in the future. My plans are to study film in college and go on to become a director. I've aspired to becoming a director, even from age nine, when I would take my family's video camera into my room and attempt to make movies. They looked really bad, probably because I was using an ironing board to hold the camera because I didn't have a tripod. They were really crude movies, but they were my movies. It was a great feeling knowing I had been able to make something similar to the movies that I love.
Movies are a huge chunk of my life, and they always will be. Without movies, I don't think I would be as creative as I am today. I hope that later down the road, I'll be able to make my own movies that people will love like all the movies that I love.

The movie, directed by Upendra Subba, has a poetic touch. It beautifully captures the essence of "Palam," a cultural tradition in Nepal's Limbu community. It presents a story about the subtle struggles and love shared between a husband and wife. Free from unnecessary drama, the film feels authentic and true to life, with every character contributing meaningfully to the story. The portrayal of human emotions is highly relatable, as it reflects familiar aspects of Nepal's patriarchal society, such as male pride, dominance, and the tensions that arise when a woman leaves her husband's home to stay with her father.
The title "Jaari" refers to a compensation that a woman's family must pay if she marries another man, a custom that points to a complex mix of freedom and responsibility for women. The film highlights that "Palam" is more than just singing and dancing; it embodies the essence of the Kirat people's culture, expressing love, wisdom, and the meaning of life. Interestingly, the main character initially dislikes "Palam" and lacks skill in its singing and dancing, but he eventually grasps its true essence and, in doing so, fights a way back to his beloved.
In conclusion, "Jaari" tells a powerful story of cultural understanding and personal growth, exploring the significance of tradition, family, and love in a way that resonates deeply.

Jaari make you realize of women role in every family, it will make you realize and imagine yourself without women(Mom, Wife, Sister) in your family.
I recommend all to watch it with your family.
If you love Old Movie Numafung then you will get similar vibe in very different way with new story and new charectors, At last I love you thanks whole Jaari team and look forward for more new movie with new stories. Good Luck.

The movie "Jaari" can be regarded as a powerful and significant contribution to Nepali cinema. It brings to light prevalent customs in our society, particularly the practice of 'Jaari' in limbu culture.
The story is simple yet impactful, showcasing the challenges faced within traditional marital relationships in rural society. The performances of the lead characters are strong, with great chemistry between DAYAHANG RAI and MERUNA MAGAR, which makes the narrative more vivid. The supporting role by BIJAYA BARAL is noteworthy. Especially, the actress's portrayal effectively highlights the mental and physical struggles women face in society.
The direction is straightforward and clear. The director UPENDRA SUBBA has presented the story well, bringing the emotions of the characters to life. The cinematography beautifully captures the rural setting, adding depth and realism to the story.
The movie's soundtrack also complements the narrative, helping to emotionally engage the audience.
However, the plot slows down in a few places as it goes into more detail, which affects the pacing slightly. Overall, though, the film addresses an important issue in society and compels viewers to reflect on it.
"Jaari" is a must-watch for Nepali cinema enthusiasts.

I just watched this movie on YouTube, and although I had seen other films by Upendra Subba (aka Khir Baba) before, I have to say this one is my favorite. The cast was outstanding, the storyline was fabulous, and the rural setting was portrayed perfectly. Typically, I avoid love stories because they tend to linger in my mind, but I went into this one thinking it wouldn't have that effect. I was completely wrong-this story is definitely going to stick with me for days. The film sparked my curiosity about the culture it depicted (I believe it's about the Rai or Limbu community, though I'm not certain), the location where it was shot, and the practice of "Jaari." Overall, I loved it and hope it doesn't stay on my mind for too long! Miruna Magar is slowly becoming a crush I guess.

I've always admired Malayalam and classic Japanese films for their authentic portrayal of social realities and cultural nuances. Recently, I watched the Nepali movie *Jaari*, and I was truly captivated. It offers a profound glimpse into Limbu society, introducing me to concepts like jaari, palam, and tongba-terms I had never encountered before.
The film beautifully weaves these cultural elements into its narrative, reminiscent of the storytelling style in Malayalam cinema. It also reflects the Nepali saying, "budabudiko jhagada paraal ko aago," highlighting the ups and downs in marital relationships, yet ultimately celebrating love. Overall, *Jaari* is an outstanding film that showcases Limbu culture with great depth. The writing is excellent, and the cinematography is stunning.
I do regret not being able to see it in theaters, as I can only imagine how impactful it would have been on the big screen.

I missed the movie in the theatre but i watched it on youtube now and iam shocked to watch a such brilliant nepali movie
We all must appreciate the film makers to show us a beautiful ritual through this movie that is in the phase of extinction
A praiseworthy Nepali Movie. We all must appreciate the hardwork that the makers have shown in the presentation. The length/runtime of the movie could have been shortened by cutting few scenes those scenes wouldn't had impacted the storyline of the movie . But still ignoring the few things , the whole movie was engaging and impactful. The bgm of the movie would have been done better to create better impact on the whole movie.

Just watched this movie in youtube. Simply amazing. Being a Nepali and from Newar community, I was totally unaware about how rich culture Limbu/Subba communty have and how they care about their daughters, daughter in-laws and women as a whole. But after watching the movie I grew great admiration for this community and felt prouder on how diverse our country is. Nice plot, great direction, good performances from principal and supporting cast. Unlike other Nepali movies, very limited dialogue for principal star cast but their body language and expressions speaks volume for them. A different story with organic taste. Simply amazing. Thank you Upendra Subba ji for this movie.
