    A sweet movie

Netflix have produced many animated films in the last years. In your dreams is a better one of those I say. Firstly the animation had more of a human quality to it and it felt like a real film if that makes sense. Stevie lives with her mom and dad who are musicians but have not had a hit in some years and are down on their luck. She also has a brother called elliot. After he finds a book at a libuary called the sandman the pair find themself in some strange dream worlds and batteling through nightmare in order to meet the big man himself. I thought this movie was made well. Belony tony was a good comic relife character and help cut through some sader scenes. Overall a nice family movie that really makes you appreciate your parents.

Very deep and nice lesson to learn.

I really liked In Your Dreams. It's one of those films that quietly stays with you - not because it's loud or flashy, but because it speaks to something real. The story excited me with its lesson: the children's wish for everyone to be happy felt so valid, so deeply human. It's a longing we all share, especially when we're young and still believe happiness can be simple.

The protagonist just wanted a happy family, like everyone else. But the film doesn't stop there - it shows that each person carries their own dreams. The parents have theirs. The brother has his. And sometimes, those dreams don't align. What moved me most was the film's honesty: even if what we want doesn't work out, it doesn't mean everything is broken. There's still beauty in what remains.

The Sandman, who tries to give everyone happiness, represents that universal desire. But the movie gently warns us - too much happiness, or getting everything we want, can lead to chaos and unexpected consequences. That's a powerful message, especially for those of us who've learned that joy without grounding can be overwhelming.

And then there's Nightmara. At first, she seems like the antagonist. But the film flips that idea. It shows how fear, when understood, can actually give us confidence and protect us. Fear isn't the enemy - it's part of what makes us strong.

After I watched In Your Dreams, I immediately shared it with my friends. It's the kind of story that deserves to be talked about - not just for its visuals or plot, but for the emotional truth it carries. It reminded me that dreams, even when imperfect, can guide us toward something deeper.

An Enchanting Fantasy That Doesn't Allow Itself to Go Further

Netflix's new animated film, In Your Dreams, arrives in the catalog surrounded by expectations. Not only because it shares the same release year with another possible contender from the studio, K-Pop Warriors, but also because it marks Alex Woo's directorial debut. Although it is his first feature film as a director, Woo brings with him a background that arouses curiosity: years working as a story artist at Pixar on films such as Ratatouille, WALL-E, Finding Dory, The Incredibles 2, and The Good Dinosaur. Add to that the fact that the production is signed by Kuku Studios, founded by former Pixar employees, and it's clear why the film already has a familiar feel to it.

And that familiarity is both a strength and a weakness. Woo has stated that he sought direct inspiration from his years of experience at Pixar, and the film does carry much of the studio's emotional, visual, and narrative identity. However, while this influence brings security, it also leaves In Your Dreams stuck in the shadow of the works it honors. The result is a competent and sensitive film that struggles to find its voice.

In Your Dreams is a film that entertains, moves you at times, and demonstrates the potential of a studio that is still finding its artistic maturity. But it is also a work that limits itself. The structure is familiar, the fantasy could be bolder, and the family drama could go deeper. The final impression is that of a film that has heart and good ideas, but avoids taking risks, always staying too safe to reach the emotional and narrative climax it seemed headed for.

Even so, it should be a strong contender for an Oscar. Not necessarily because it is one of the most memorable animations of the year, but because Netflix has historically been a strong contender in this category during awards season. In Your Dreams is derivative, but also promising. Imperfect, but engaging. A firm step forward for the studio that produced it and a reminder that sometimes, even in dreams, growing up hurts a little.

    Charming Ideas

"In Your Dreams" is a light, colorful animated adventure that builds its world on an undeniably charming premise. There's a playful imagination at the heart of the film - vibrant dreamscapes, quirky characters, and a tone that balances whimsy with gentle emotion. It's the kind of movie that clearly means well, and when it leans into its creativity, it can be genuinely delightful.

The visual style carries much of the weight. The dream sequences are fun to look at, filled with inventive details that make the world feel alive even when the story doesn't always keep up. The animation has personality, even if it's not quite polished enough to compete with the genre's top tier. The soundtrack supports the mood nicely, adding an airy energy that fits the film's playful spirit.

Where the movie falls short is in its storytelling. The plot is straightforward - sometimes a little too straightforward - and the emotional beats rarely land with much force. The characters are likable enough, but they don't get the depth or development needed to fully connect. The humor works here and there, offering small laughs, but it often feels safe and predictable rather than genuinely clever.

Still, "In Your Dreams" has an easygoing charm. It's pleasant, harmless, and sweet, with just enough creativity to keep it from fading into mediocrity.

In the end, it's a mildly enjoyable, nicely animated film that entertains without ever becoming truly remarkable.

More Heart and Honesty Than Most Live-Action Films

"In Your Dreams" genuinely surprised me. This animation tackles themes far deeper than the usual coming-of-age or classic good-vs-evil storyline. At times I even felt it wasn't really a children's film - the emotional weight placed on the kids, who are trying to save their parents' relationship, is pretty intense. But the world isn't perfect, and that's exactly why this story works.

There's more common sense, sincerity, and emotional truth here than in most live-action films released lately. The animation is beautiful, the message hits hard, and the idea that we're all imperfect yet still have each other... that's the part that stays with you. A must-watch! πŸ’ͺ
