Netflix unveiled the new and returning shows coming throughout 2025, and while it's exciting to learn that shows like Stranger Things, Wednesday, Emily in Paris, Nobody Wants This, and more will be back this year, there's also a catch. Some of our favorite shows were sadly missing from that list.

On Wednesday, Jan. 30, Netflix closed out the first month of 2025 by giving fans a glimpse at the shows they can look forward to later this year. While some fan-favorites like Ginny & Georgia and Squid Game received June release dates for their respective third seasons, plenty of other established hit series were also included on the list to make comebacks in 2025.

A firm called Luminate Data recently released a big report on TV in 2024, and it had some interesting findings. The biggest series on Disney+ was Percy Jackson and the Olympians, with around 3 billion minutes watched. Overall TV output was down compared to years past, with the 2023 actors and writers strikes having stopped production for a while. And the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was watched for 60% fewer minutes than the first.

A new documentary titled Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music is set to premiere Monday night (January 27th) on NBC. One of the key revelations from the film is that Rage Against the Machine were locked down by the US Secret Service following their performance of “Bulls on Parade” on the late-night sketch show.

Ratm were the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on April 13th, 1996, an episode hosted by billionaire Steve Forbes, who was then a recent Republican presidential candidate.

As the story’s been told, Rage Against the Machine had their crew hang upside down American flags on their amps, but the flags were removed by the SNL stage crew right before the band launched into the song. Ratm never got to play their second song, “Bullet in the Head,” and have since never been invited back to play on the show.

Matthew McConaughey may reprise his role as Michael Pearson in The Gentlemen TV show after season 2's confirmation. McConaughey's cameo could link the movie and show together and bring clarity to the storyline. Fans hope to see McConaughey's return in a brief interaction with the protagonist or a clash with Giancarlo Esposito's villain.

Matthew McConaughey delivered one of the most underrated performances of his career five years ago, and I'm much more hopeful he'll reprise his captivating gangster role after one crucial update. The actor has had a phenomenal career with over three decades worth of acting experience and has even earned a Best Acting Oscar for his role in Dallas Buyers Club. Alongside his accolades and incredible performances, Matthew McConaughey has provided some movie moments I'll never forget, making him one of the all-time greats. However, despite his achievements, I was worried he wouldn't return to play one of his best characters.

Netflix invites you to back into the ring on Sunday, Sept. 15, when both seasons of Heels, the cancelled Starz wrestling drama, debut on the streamer.

Created by Michael Waldron (Loki), Heels followed Jack Spade (played by Arrow‘s Stephen Amell), an indie wrestler competing with his younger brother Ace (Vikings‘ Alexander Ludwig) to run their family-owned wrestling promotion in small-town Georgia.

Alan Cumming ought to stock up on spiffy berets, because The Traitors isn’t going anywhere.

Well ahead of its return for Season 3, the reality competition has been renewed for Seasons 4 and 5 at Peacock, TVLine has learned. Cumming will be back as host for both cycles.

The two-season pickup comes after The Traitors‘ sophomore run scored four Primetime Emmy nominations earlier this summer, including nods for directing, cinematography, hosting and Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

Apple TV+ has picked up Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s Long Way… motorcycle docuseries for another 10-episode season, TVLine has learned. The renewal comes nearly four years after the Long Way Up season, which was released in September 2020.

Netflix’s The Gentlemen series doesn’t feature the same ensemble cast as Guy Ritchie’s 2020 film of the same name. However, Ritchie says his new series is set in the same sort of world as the film, and that’s confirmed in the show’s first official teaser trailer.
