It’s another night of drama and reality TV. However, not all networks have new episodes of favorite shows on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
We know that networks need to take breaks in the schedule. There are nine months to fill with content, but not enough new episodes to give us one new episode a week. Well, it’s time for one network to take a break for scheduling needs. Let’s get into it.
Survivor, the World Series continues, and more
We start off with CBS’s night of reality. Survivor kicks off the night with another 90-minute episode. This episode sees two castaways forced to mend fences due to tribal council. One group of castaways is given a safety net they need with the Immunity Challenge. It’s sure to be another night of reality drama.

The poster tells the story of the show: Newlyweds look forlorn as they stand knee-deep in a tropical ocean with only a bobbing red suitcase for company. As the title confirms, the unlucky couple are Stranded on Honeymoon Island.
The series (think Married at First Sight meets Survivor) was one of the buzziest new formats at Cannes’ MIPCOM television market last week — and the poster, which adorned the walls of a Palais stand, said much about the interconnected nature of the business. Here, in this sunny corner of France, was a German producer selling a show born in Denmark, raised in Belgium, and putting down roots in the UK.
Stranded on Honeymoon Island’s home on British shores is the BBC. Three sources tell Deadline that the national broadcaster secured the show amid interest from ITV and Channel 4 after it was auctioned by Cpl, the maker of Love Is Blind: UK.

The big-budget drama series often get the most attention at MIPCOM Cannes, the world’s largest television market. But this year is time for unscripted to shine.
Hit by a sluggish advertising market and a reality check on overblown predictions of global streaming growth, broadcaster have shrunk their acquisition budgets. Cost-cutting and profitability are the new buzzwords. And nothing says low-cost/high-return than non-fiction formats.
Here’s The Hollywood Reporter‘s MIPCOM Hot List of non-scripted titles — from high-concept game shows to celebrity-driven reality shows and investigative documentaries — that promise to grab buyers’ attention at this year’s market.
The Americas
Format Natural History
Pitch From BBC Studios Natural History Unit, producers of multi-Emmy Award-winning Planet Earth and Blue Planet, and Universal Television Alternative Studio, comes this 11-part nature documentary series on the natural wonders of the American continent. Narrated by Tom Hanks and scored by two-time Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer.

I was just skimming the latest Wednesday ratings, and… yikes. ABC’s Abbott Elementary is not doing well, incongruously leading out of The Golden Bachelorette this fall.
The Golden Bachelorette is averaging 2.7 million total viewers and a 0.3 demo rating through its first five episodes. That’s a far cry from the 4.7 mil/0.6 that The Golden Bachelor averaged a year ago, though 1) Bachelor aired on a different night (Thursdays) and 2) only against other reality-tv fare on CBS and Fox, due to the Hollywood strikes delaying scripted shows.

One Chicago tends to take over on Wednesday nights for a lot of people. What’s on TV tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 16 as CBS continues its premiere week?
Well, for CBS, there isn’t much different tonight compared to previous weeks. The reality shows already started their premieres weeks earlier, and we get new episodes of The Summit and Survivor tonight. So, what about the other networks?
One Chicago Wednesday, The Golden Bachelorette, and more
Of course, for NBC, it’s all about the three One Chicago shows. Things kick off with Chicago Med, but it’s Chicago Fire that we’re keeping a close eye on. Violet makes a decision on a call that could see her fired from the job. EMTs are there to perform the initial emergency treatment and rush to the hospital, not perform C-sections, so it’s not surprising that Violet is potentially going to lose her license.

When “The Summit” returns to CBS for its second episode, it will unveil exactly what host Manu Bennett meant when he referred to “The Mountain’s Keeper” and her difficult choices.
Or, as the episode logline puts it, “After an unexpected twist reverberates throughout the group, game plans shift as they begin to tackle harder terrain. While the trekkers are challenged with crossing an extremely rickety bridge, emotions surge as the Mountain’s Keeper arrives with a shocking choice for the trekkers to make, leaving one person’s fate hanging by a thread.”
In the video above, get a sneak peek of how The Mountain’s Keeper intends to test the remaining contestants. As Bennett points out, their first task was meant to expedite their progress. “But,” Bennett intones sadly, “they chose empathy over the objective. Now, to get them back on track, The Mountain’s Keeper will force their hand.
