Great move. Great casting. Great chemistry. Loved this movie! The storyline was typical but so well written and the main character calling himself Gray, and having the high power job with the suits and the general demeanor gave me fifty shades vibes in a very PG rated way. Merritt Patterson is ALWAYS a pleasure to watch in anything she does and the chemistry between these two was off the charts from their very first run in within minutes of the movie starting. You could feel it jumping off the screen. Again kudos to the writing of this film, we need more of this stuff on our screens! The vineyard where they filmed was STUNNING also. A++ all around!!

Some of the romances by Hallmark or GAF feature couples that have little chemistry. Sometimes that is due to the story, which features antagonism or an oil-an-water connection that gradually grows into love. Other times, there just is no spark between the two stars. This film, on the other hand, features a story where there is chemistry between the two leads immediately, and for reasons of plot the couple cannot act on it.

Lucy Marks (Merritt Patterson) runs a match-making service and is dedicated to her job. Ironically, she herself has no one special in her life. When she meets Finn Grayson (Joshua Sasse), a businessman whose family owns a vineyard, there is an instant spark. When he engages her to find him a match, she has mixed feelings, but ethics require her to separate business and personal interests.

As mentioned, the story focuses on the easy attraction between the two, giving the viewer a love story different from many others. The final outcome is never in doubt, of course, but it's all about the dance.

I rather enjoyed this movie unlike the other review on here. I thought the two actors have a great chemistry and played off each other well. Sure, the story is predictable, what TV rom-com isn't? Spoiler alert: They get together at the end. I think the only issue I had was that the film is set in Florida, but his family vineyard was on rolling hills and there's one scene where she's walking up to ground level. I've lived in Florida, there's like one hill in the entire state and unless it's changed in recent years, the highest point is a garbage dump. The movie was filmed in Australia, I believe. As a freelance writer/reviewer I cover a lot of Hallmark, Lifetime, Great American Family, UPtv, etc. Content so if I say one particular rom-com is good and worth a looksie, than you know it is.

Movies of this type have taken a nose dive in quality recently. However this one is very watchable.

Some random thoughts:

The movie is shot in a very sterile way. Meaning there is no real sense that the movie takes place in real life but more of a bubble the characters live in by themselves.

The set design is visually beautiful at times. The color palette of the movie is vivid basic colors with simple sets that often look more like art than real life. It makes for a beautiful movie but...see comment above.

Too much circular panning for me.

(I mention these three things first because they, more than the characters or story, are what stood out the most watching the movie.)

The writing is good enough. Nothing crazy here and no overall message the writers/director is trying to push on the audience (so refreshing).

The plot is basic with the only twist being the two main characters having significant confidence issues towards their love lives (it's what makes the plot go). It's hard to believe these characters would have the same issues in real life (who knows maybe they would) but the actors do a decent enough job of selling their personal issues so you can buy into the story.

Overall a good watch if you like these kinds of movies.

I realised a long time ago that text messaging was just a part of daily life now and was not surprised when it started appearing in movies. But FINALLY a movie maker that while using text messaging as part of the story doesn't forget that not everyone has 20/20 vision and by not being able to read the texts loses a large part of what is happening. By having the texts spoken as well as on screen, they allowed the story to unfold for everyone.

I was really surprised and pleased. They only missed one right at the end but by then we knew what it would say.

I really enjoyed this movie, thought the chemistry between the leads was awesome and the supporting actors were great too. Scenery lovely and all in all an enjoyable movie made better for knowing what the texts said. Thank you.

This is an EXCELLENT Movie! It should be shown in all university and college campuses because of the outstanding ethical decisions made by the characters! Hollywood NEEDS MORE WRITERS THAT CAN WRITE IN THIS STYLE!! I LOVED this MOVIE! So REFRESHING AND WELL- DONE in every aspect! The cast was excellent. The background sets were great. Make-up and wardrobe top-notch! Where has the writer(s) been hiding?? I would LOVE to see more movies made with this class of writing! Such a relief not to have to watch perversion and disrespect weaved into a rom-com when trying to relax. This movie deserves awards! I hope it get some and I hope some people in Hollywood take a lesson from the content of this movie!! DOUBLE KUDDOS TO THE WRITER(S)

Joshua Sasse seems to have set up shop in Queensland in 2023, filming two movies there - One Perfect Match and the Netflix production with Delta Goodrem, Love is in the Air.

The latter was better than the former, by a long way.

Sasse is a good actor and Merritt Patterson, as gorgeous as ever, is one of my favourites - I will watch anything she is in, without hesitation - but this movie was far too slow, proceeding at something around a glacial pace at the best of times, with an uninteresting plot (to me, anyway) and it was more cliched than these movies usually are. A bad triumvirate.

The majority of these GAC Family movies definitely don't have the production values that Hallmark and Lifetime do. That's a shame, give the acting talent - Patterson, Jen Lilley etc. - that network has on it's books. A lack of budget was, to me, much more noticeable in 'One Perfect Match' than in most of the other GAC titles I've watched.

I also think the producers missed an opportunity to set this in Australia, rather than having Queensland masquerade for somewhere in America.

I like this kind of movie as much or more than the next person, but sometimes they fall flat and this one did. I really wanted to like it, but I really couldn't get into it.

I've loved Joshua Sasse since "Galavant" and Merritt Patterson is plenty reliable, but this movie underperforms. The pacing is painfully slow -- basically 100 minutes of "I like him but he's my client and I can't date him!" and him not liking his date but not having the spine to say so. The acting from the supporting players is weak and the direction is plodding. And as is typical of GAF movies, the whole thing screams cheap. The guy is the owner of a big hedge fun but he has no papers on his desk? She's a famous matchmaker with a huge client base but has a dinky office and only one assistant? I honestly don't know why this garners so much praise, aside from the holy rollers at GAF in jubilation over a movie that doesn't dare divert from a white cisgender model.

Great American Family (GAF) struck it out of the ballpark with this movie!!! The actors/actresses were absolutely amazing! This is not a movie that you can just listen to, it has to be watched, and watched closely. The reason is due to all of the subtle expressions that cross the main characters faces. Wonderful - Enrapturing!! My wife and I were captivated by what was said in these expressions! The supporting cast were fantastic too!! I agree with another poster who said there should be some awards for this movie! And to the person who commented on GAF "holy rollers". Let me just say that these "holy rollers" created an exceptional and heart warming movie that transcends political correctness!!! Kudos GAF and please continue creating such wonderful movies with exceptional actors and actresses!!! I also agree with another poster who pointed out the benefit of the characters reading their own texts! Loved it! You really can't go wrong by watching this movie, just watch it closely!

I love Merritt Patterson and I have since I saw her in her first Hallmark Christmas movie. At this point, she is also one of the few really good actresses for either Hallmark or Great American Family that is still young enough to do a "first love" romance. She has a presence on screen. So it is painful to me to give this move less than a glowing review, but for reasons I will explain, it wasn't because of her.

The movie is dominated by a theme and a tone. The theme is ethics. The tone is awkwardness. The former leads to the latter.

Ethics really dominates the movie. It is mentioned often and when not explicitly mentioned it shows up in the relationships through body language and fitful speech. A lot of stuttering or fitful speech. I think that Patterson and Joshua Sasse could have had chemistry, but they had to play so much of the movie with the awkward tension between them that it was hard to see chemistry.

As to ethics, normally the idea of the matchmaker dating a client wouldn't bother me. But the specific situation here made it a problem. It led to deception between Lucy and Molly, Finn and Molly, and to a certain extent between Finn and Lucy. Trust is important in a general sense for each of those relationships. Certainly, Molly needs to be able to trust Lucy due to the dynamic of client and matchmaker. Trust is also important for any dating relationship.

The acting was mostly good. The dialogue had some good moments but was mostly average. Like so many movies on this network, the background music is not background enough. It is noticeable at times.

The story was a big problem. I've already explained a few reasons. Also, this movie reminds me of another on a rival network not long ago but I don't remember the name or the stars. The development is very similar. The story lacks any great highs or lows or surprises. It is very predictable from the mini-surprise at the vineyard to the end. One slightly unusual aspect is that the only conflict or tension is obvious almost from the beginning. There isn't really a conflict moment just before the climax.

I think there are a couple of positive stars added to bring my rating up to mediocre just because of Merritt Patterson.

The story is exceptionally predictable; the script is especially weak. Production quality is uniformly very poor; the costuming was particularly awful. This looks like it was made with a negligible budget. A physically attractive cast, but mostly poor acting - notably Merritt Patterson. I've seen many of these actors in other movies which were pleasant enough (not going to win any awards), so it's a mystery as to why this movie is such a stinker. While I wants to confirm I knew how it ended, I just could not watch to the end - it was too much a waste of time. I'm going to avoid movies with this director, writer, and producer. And I'm now leery about the choices Merritt Patterson and Joshua Sasse make.

To me, this film screams budget cuts in filming. Super fake sets, filming with zero depth, overly sharp picture, makes characters not feel like they're in the environment.

I love Merritt Patterson and I thought she was good here, as always and the other characters were good, as well. And I liked the story, even though it's very similar to a few other matchmaker movies. I just found it hard to move past the filming style and horrible interior sets. The vineyard was beautiful and the outdoor scenes were lovely but there was still something off about the filming technique. The whole movie just looked "off".

I was excited for this one and was disappointed in the end, especially because the cast, story and acting were all good. Since there's an obvious formula to the stories, as well as the look of the movies, I say stick to that formula, especially for the professional look. Making it look like a student film, and a bad one at that, isn't sticking to the formula.

I'm shocked that a few people here have said how beautiful the sets were, and apart from the vineyard, I strongly disagree. The director and cinematographer dropped the ball here.

Who are these people giving high scores for this truly terrible movie? The slowest pace, the most awkward scenes, most boring and repetitive dialog. Agree with comment about low budget but I can enjoy low budget if there is anything redeeming about the story or the acting. Nothing redeeming here. Agree, even wardrobe ridiculous. GAF has a knack for taking a Hallmark type plot which is still watchable into something completely grotesque and uncomfortable. I had to FF several times. Even the final scene was screwed up with too many word. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for it to finally end.

Oh my. This movie had the makings of a real rom-com. It got over run by lingering gazes, repeated conversations, unrealistic premise, and stubborn stances. The entire movie hung on wasted seconds which combined made up for time where no dialog was needed. Add to that, repeating the same conversations between the main characters and you know there is not enough substance to the script. The glances were overdone, making them awkward. The many staring out the windows were time wasters and the dog pettings gratuitous. The venue was perfect, but available in a week? Landscape was gorgeous, actors very good but it just had an overdone concept. Sorry.

I liked it. For acting, for old fashion atmosphere, for humor, for dogs, for vine and for Jane Austen delicate fragrance. As celibataire, I am not exactly admirer of film s about matchmakers. But this case is pretty different for wise way to define characters, for pieces of story, for smart acting and for few real scenes about relation between money and people, drops of fairy tale- unrealistic, no doubts, but sweet- , for supporting actors and for spring air of...youth.

Difficult to define One Perfect Match. Enough to say different about it.

Including for few lovely scenes , for fresh air and courage to be not exactly only other romance.
