So sorry to have seen this sad episode. Badly written. No intrigue whatsoever. Grace jumps from one correct assumption to the next without fail. Straight forward dialog. Like written by one of my year 9 students. Very basic and disappointing.
The revelation at the end does nothing to save this mess.
Predictable and full of commonplaces seen many times before.
I'm sure you can do better. It's sad to see such good characters being given such bad lines of dialog.
I'm not quite sure if there is a certain level of guilt at the hands of the director of the episode. I was rolling my eyes more and more all through this episode. Which never happened with previous chapters.
I just shut it down halfway through the epilogue. Could stand it no more. It was that bad.

I have to say that this is quite possibly the weakest episode yet but that is not saying much as it has been a strong show but new writers this series have put a big of a different slant on things.
I have read the books by Peter James and they can be quite dark and perverse and I have to admit I didn't strictly understand the proceedings so this screenplay did help in that regard.
Unlike previous episodes, this does stay quite true to the books with the storyline being left open at the end.
It is annoying that Grace never seems to lose his cool regardless of whatever is thrown his way Looking forward to the season finale before American viewers get to see the show next week.

Grace investigates the abduction of a young woman, Glenn heads up the investigation into a bad that was found when a foot path was dug up. Grace is distracted however, as he learns of the news that his estranged wife may still be alive.
This put me in mind of that shoes very first episode, it has that incredibly macabre, gruesome vibe, plus we have that whole 'buried alive' thing going on.
I thought this was excellent, I thoroughly enjoyed it, not sure I'll sleep soundly after watching it however, definitely the stuff of nightmares.
That masked figure was very much of the slasher movie genre, looked wonderfully sinister and creepy.
9/10.

So bad! Script is full of holes and mistakes. Prisoners kept in metal boxes said they are never let out, been in there for 3 days, so they must be very smelly by now lying in own urine and faeces! Doctor gets phone call from one man but then refers to 'they' , how did he know that a group was involved? Skeleton found at 0 depth under very thin concrete so the body would have been easily seen when concrete poured, especially as no sand or gravel on top. Can you really see burnt muscle tissue after 20 years of body being in ground? As an am dram production by year 9s it's ok, but as a tax payer, could do much better!
Probably one of the worst detectives program I've watched in a long time.
The story is completely ridiculous. Programs have to have some link, some connection to reality to be believable.
This story was so nonsensical and the assumptions made in capturing the killer so 'out there', that one wonders how this was made.
There are good characters in Grace, particularly the lead himself and his team of detectives. They are very likeable. The program is well made but, come on they have to be given realistic storylines so that we can believe in them and the crime they are solving.
This episode failed spectacularly on that.
