Vadim Teltsov moves to the capital, where he gets a position as a criminal investigation operative and a "one-bedroom apartment" in a residential area of Moscow. Life is well established, there is work, but one day one seemingly standard case turns the life of a cynical opera upside down: the investigation of the murder of businessman Yusov introduces Teltsov to a young rufer Max, the son of the murdered man. Teltsov's colleagues suspect Max of murdering his father, but Vadim is sure that the guy is innocent. Because of an oversight, Teltsov is fired, but he does not despair and opens his detective agency, where he hires a new acquaintance.
