When it comes to music combined with a visual experience, to each their own. VH1 was designed for those of us who were growing older and wanted something a little smoother than MTV. One such show was "New Visions". Two hours on Saturday night devoted to New Age, World, and Contemporary Jazz music videos. While the music was very soothing, the videos were an experience to behold. There was nothing like New Visions elsewhere on television. People and their desires change. It's a shame this show faded away. Yet, all is not lost. The music still resides in the electronic space.
The show was originally hosted by Frankie Crocker. He left VH1 to pursue his radio career. Smart move Frankie. New Visions did not die after he left. VH1 begin using artists as guest hosts. While they were great in the music world, some were smart to keep their day job (musicians) as they were not hosting material. This also lead to the demise of the show.
New Visions was a show with a vertical audience appeal. Would this show do well in today's environment? No. Yet, there are those of us who desire something other than reality (or dream) tv on MTV and VH1.
