Life has found a way to revive the "Jurassic World" franchise. Three years after the release of 2022's "Dominion," which wrapped up director Colin Trevorrow's trilogy, Universal Pictures is bringing back the dinos for a new adventure with a new cast, telling a new story. We now have our first concrete details regarding the film, which is officially titled "Jurassic World Rebirth." Additionally, we have a couple of first-look photos, which you can check out both below and above, as well as a plot synopsis. So there is much to discuss.
The film's cast is led by Scarlett Johansson ("Black Widow"), Jonathan Bailey ("Bridgerton"), and Mahershala Ali ("Moonlight"). Per Universal, "this action-packed new chapter sees an intrepid team racing to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air." So, we're talking big dinosaurs -- and flying dinosaurs! We also have a larger plot synopsis,...

Universal Pictures' new Jurassic World movie has been filming since mid-June (it's reportedly wrapped in Thailand and will soon move to Malta), and thanks to a reliable source, we may finally have an official title for the latest entry in the dino-disaster franchise.
We had heard that the movie was being referred to internally as Jurassic City, but according to Daniel Richtman, the official title is Jurassic World: Rebirth.
We've since learned that this title has indeed been trademarked.

Back in January, Universal Pictures made a surprising announcement: not only did they have a new Jurassic World movie in development, but the screenplay – by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, returning to the franchise for the first time since The Lost World: Jurassic Park – had already been written, and the movie was on the fast track to production. Soon after, we learned that it’s aiming for a July 2, 2025 theatrical release. Assembled in a mad scramble, the movie is now filming with Godzilla director Gareth Edwards at the helm… and while a title has never been officially announced (we’ve heard that people involved with the production were referring to it as Jurassic World 4 and/or Jurassic City), the title might have just been given away by trademark filings. A few days ago, Amblin Entertainment filed to trademark the title Jurassic World: Rebirth for several products.

Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World trilogy came to its conclusion in 2022 with Jurassic World: Dominion. It didn’t take long for Universal to move forward with a follow-up despite the arc for those characters coming to an end. Production has just taken off and the new Jurassic World movie will be filming in Thailand through July 16th, with locations including Bangkok, Trang, Phang Nga, Phuket, Chiang Mai and the Huai To Waterfall, which is within the Khao Phanom Bencha National Park in Krabi province. Filming at the waterfall is expected to take a full week. Outside of Thailand, the movie will be filming at studios in Malta and the U.K. The writer of the two original Spielberg movies, David Koepp, returns to the series with this sequel and the star, Scarlett Johansson, couldn’t be more excited as she spoke about the project with ComicBook.com. According to Variety, the Black Widow actress said,...

Confirming earlier reports, Scarlett Johansson has enthusiastically confirmed she’s to star in the next Jurassic Park film.
About three months after the stories first began to circulate, Scarlett Johansson has confirmed that she’s to star in the next Jurassic Park film – the first since 2022’s Jurassic World: Dominion.
Johansson also expressed her enthusiasm for the franchise, and returning screenwriter David Koepp’s script in particular – it’s “incredible” she says.
“The script is so incredible. David Koepp wrote it and returned after 30 years to write it and he’s so passionate about it,” Johannson told ComicBook.com (via Variety). “I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it. The fact that it’s...

After a couple of far-from-perfect sequels, the Jurassic franchise was rebooted with Jurassic World in 2015. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard were chosen to lead the series, with only one movie set in the newly minted "Jurassic World" theme park before it all came crashing down.
The trilogy, which also included Fallen Kingdom and Dominion, was a financial success for Universal Pictures, with all three instalments grossing over $1 billion each. However, Dominion's takings dropped significantly from its predecessors and reviews were not kind.
Now, the idea is to reboot the series again or at least continue it with a new cast which, so far, includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, and - if talks work out - Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali.

Jurassic World 4's rumored storyline mirrors past mistakes of the franchise, struggling to find new ground. The movie faces a conflicting premise, attempting to kickstart a new era while going back to old roots. Despite narrative problems, Jurassic World 4's success at the box office is almost guaranteed due to dinosaur spectacle.
The rumored storyline for the upcoming Jurassic World 4 highlights a major narrative problem that the franchise has struggled with since its very first sequel way back in 1997. Since the Jurassic series is one of the only guaranteed hit-makers in a troubled film industry, Universal has fast-tracked Jurassic World 4 for a release date of July 2, 2025. The Creators Gareth Edwards is in the directors chair, hoping to revitalize the franchise with a brand-new cast featuring such beloved stars as Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali. But the films rumored storyline leaves a lot to be desired.

We knew that Universal Pictures intended to fast-track its next Jurassic World movie, and just a couple of months after the project was announced, production is now underway in Thailand.
According to Variety, the movie will also make use of locations in Malta and the U.K.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards is set to helm the dino-disaster flick, with Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley on board as producers. Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise and David Iacono are set to star, with Scarlett Johansson playing the lead.
This marks a return to franchise filmmaking for the highly in-demand Black Widow star, who was a fixture of Marvel Studios' MCU for many years. There is no information on the character Johansson will play.

Gareth Edwards' new film in the "Jurassic Park/World" series hasn't yet been given an official title, but — according to a report in Variety — may likely be called "Jurassic City." It will be the seventh film to be based on Michael Crichton's 1990 adventure novel.
The new film will be written by longtime blockbuster scribe David Koepp, and is being described as "a completely fresh take launching a new Jurassic era, following three adults and three teens getting stuck on the Island." The Island is presumably Isla Nublar, the fictional Costa Rican island where Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" (1993) took place.
It may be generous to call the story "completely fresh," as "characters trapped on an island with dinosaurs" is also the plot of "Jurassic Park," "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," "Jurassic Park III," and "Jurassic World." Only "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and "Jurassic World: Dominion" don't take place entirely on a remote,...

Jurassic World 4 gets a new story update that teases a return to the franchise's Jurassic Park roots. After two sequels to Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster classic, the hit dinosaur franchise was rebooted in 2015, introducing audiences to Chris Pratt's Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire. The confirmed Jurassic World 4 is now moving forward, with Scarlett Johansson set to star opposite Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, and Jonathan Bailey, among others, with Gareth Edwards directing what has been described as something of a soft reboot for the franchise.
Now, a new report from Variety reveals that Jurassic World 4 will feature a premise similar to that of Jurassic Park. The new film has been touted as "a completely fresh take launching a new Jurassic era, following three adults and three teens getting stuck on the Island." Universal’s follow-up to the Jurassic World films is set to land some heavyweight talent in the form of Mahershala Ali.
Another big casting story has popped up for the next film in the Jurassic World saga. There’s still plenty we don’t know about this film, including the title – although Jurassic City is one name that’s been floating around.
The project is set to shoot at Sky Studios Elstree next month and unbelievably, arrive in cinemas exactly a year later. However, with production looming the project is still furiously locking down key members of its cast and if today’s story is accurate, the film has just landed another big name.
The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that Mahershala Ali is in talks to join the ensemble and add some heavyweight artistic credibility to the picture. The Moonlight actor is a two-time Oscar winner, picking up the storied...

Glen Powell may have a lock on a slew of beloved 1970s and 1980s franchise reboots, but the actor almost traveled to a galaxy far, far away a decade ago.
Powell told GQ UK that he was amid the final casting round to play Han Solo in “Star Wars” prequel film “Solo” circa 2018.
“I can joke about it now, [but] I blew that final audition,” Powell admitted.
Ansel Elgort also auditioned but it was Alden Ehrenreich who was instead cast in the lead role. The feature, directed by Ron Howard, bombed at the box office.

Following reports suggesting Dev Patel might be joining Scarlett Johansson in Jurassic City, more names are now in the casting mix.
Watching the film that may or may not be called Jurassic City come together in double quick time has been a fun process to observe. First David Leitch was directing, then he was out due to ‘creative differences’. Then, Gareth Edwards, the filmmaker behind Rogue One and The Creator was in, working on a script by original Jurassic Park writer, David Koepp.
Since then, Scarlett Johansson and Dev Patel are both rumoured to have signed up for the project which, unbelievably, is set to arrive in cinemas next summer.
While huge productions like this one aren’t well known for coming together quickly and then going on to be brilliant, we’re heartened by the stories that originally circulated suggesting that Universal was looking to fast track this production...

Dev Patel is the latest actor who could be poised to join Gareth Edwards’ Jurassic sequel, which will also star Scarlett Johansson.
Dev Patel, who recently turned director and action star with Monkey Man, is said to be ‘in talks’ to co-star in Gareth Edwards’ upcoming Jurassic Park (or Jurassic World) reboot, which has been dubbed Jurassic City.
The report comes via the reliably connected Daniel Richtman (via World of Reel); if all goes to plan, then Patel will co-star alongside Scarlett Johansson – not to mention a number of CGI dinosaurs – in the upcoming film.
It’s likely we’ll be hearing one or two more similar casting announcements over the next few months, given that production is having to move at a fast pace on the next Jurassic film. Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum lead an ensemble cast in Greg Berlanti’s comedy about the moon landing. Watch the first Fly Me To The Moon trailer.
Before she (reportedly) heads off to Jurassic City, Scarlett Johansson has a pit stop to make; the moon.
Well, kind of, at least. Johansson stars alongside Channing Tatum in Greg Berlanti’s new comedy about a team faking the moon landing, in case the real mission goes awry.
Take a look at the trailer.
It’s all in good fun, but there is a disturbing amount of theories about the moon landing being fake, so the film’s premise is certainly a juicy one.

We look ahead to Gareth Edwards’ Jurassic City, what it might be like, and how it connects to his very earliest work.
In the press tour for his 2023 sci-fi film The Creator, British director Gareth Edwards suggested that, after the bruising experiences of making 2014’s Godzilla and in particular 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, he wouldn’t rush to go back to studio filmmaking again.
Suggesting that both of those films had started production without finalised scripts, Edwards said as recently as January that “I have to concentrate on personal and original projects.”
This stance appeared to change rather abruptly just one month later, when Universal approached Edwards with the offer to direct the next Jurassic Park (or Jurassic World) sequel. Original director David Leitch had dropped out, and with the film’s production racing to meet a self-set 2025 release date, Universal Pictures needed a replacement in a...

According to the latest reports, the actress has been offered a role in the upcoming film in the franchise created by Gareth Edwards.
Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow
The fans were disheartened when Black Widow had an unfortunate end in Avengers: Endgame. The character made a massive contribution to Scarlett Johansson’s career. She also holds the record for being the second highest-grossing box office star of all time. If the reports are true and if she proceeds with the Jurassic World offer, then we may see her in another billion-dollar film franchise.

For years the Jurassic Park franchise has allured the audience with its inescapable world filled with impressive visuals, characters, narrative, and Dinosaurs! Not only did it win praise for the way it incorporated the pre-historic characters within the storyline but also for the way it built the whole world around them while keeping both the human and fictional elements at the center of the narrative.
The Jurassic Park and Jurassic World franchise are no less than cult-classics
And now its successor franchise, the Jurassic World, has been engaging viewers by carrying on the mythos. With the fourth movie of the new franchise in the works, a rumor seems to prove that it might be making the same mistake as Jurassic Park 2 which won’t do the franchise any good seeing the critical response the last film received.

"This doesn't end until we're all dead!" Good! Lionsgate has released a trailer for a so-bad-you-have-to-see-this movie called Jurassic Hunt, which is surprisingly not a movie from The Asylum though it definitely looks like it. The world's most dangerous soldiers, mercenaries and big-game hunters arrive at a mysterious hunting reserve to hunt the deadliest game of all. When dinosaurs kill the tour guides in a wilderness park, the surviving trophy hunters must work together to evade the giant human-hungry ancient creatures and all the mercenaries hired to finish them off. This stars Courtney Loggins, Ruben Pla, Joston Theney, Motown Maurice, and Tarkan Dospil. The only way this can be good is if the dinosaurs eat every last one of them. Surprise, surprise, there's barely three shots of awful CGI dinos in the trailer. Don't watch this. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Hank Braxtan's Jurassic Hunt, direct from Lionsgate's...
