Topan (Vino G. Bastian), a tailor, recently lost his wife, lost his tailor shop and almost lost his son's future who was expelled from school because he can't afford it anymore.

An Indonesian version of Pursuit of Happiness

The movie basically is an Indonesian version of &quot;The Pursuit of Happiness&quot; or my all time favorite drama movie &quot;Life is Beautiful&quot;. I easily weep -another way of saying instant connection- on fatherly love. Unfortunately, my eyes were only watery. I mostly know the drama genre than other genre there are in the Indonesia movie industry. I am not a big fan of drama movies, but I do watch them cause they always give me another different perspective towards the issues I face in life. For me, this movie has enough well sort of exceeded my expectations on the acting. It didn&#39;t feel stiff and it flowed well enough for me not to raise my eyebrows every five minutes. I usually do this growl when I&#39;m not satisfied with a scene. Fortunately on this movie, I didn&#39;t do much of it. I only raise questions of &quot;why not this? why this?&quot; and such questions when you use your logic. The ending was predictable since the first beginning, but the flow of the story wasn&#39;t as smooth as it should have. It seemed that some scene was cut and like the movie was in a hurry to get wrapped. Like how the manager was fired, but how it happened and how they found out wasn&#39;t explained. So, it felt like they took a shortcut. Which was quiet disturbing for me, since I love the details but don&#39;t see it sometimes. Also, there were several scenes that didn&#39;t match the sound, vice versa. But other than that, it seemed they covered it quiet well. It&#39;s just, because I&#39;ve watched something familiar to this, it was quiet hard for me not to compare. Nevertheless, Vino, Jefan, Ringgo, and Marsha has done a great job. I would give credits to the casting team, they have done a great job on choosing the cast. At first, I had second thought on Vino, cause I had other possible actors that could have played the character Topan in my mind. But, later on I was convinced with the the relationship shown between Jefan and Vino. For me the climax of the movie was a bit too early and through out the middle to the end there were only hill-height climax (which for me is quiet low). I would recommend this movie to the people who longs fatherly love and who needs motivation on what they do. I did take notes while watching the movie the second time, but I do not recall any favorite quote or scene during the movie. Well if you are going to watch this very soon, I suggest you to watch this movie first then watch Pursuit of Happiness not the other way around.

Telling story of a father who want the best for his son after his wife death and lost everything he own. Doing jobs he can do to survive without leaving his and his son dreaming as a tailor. With limited money, there are only few jobs he can do in capital city like Jakarta. He is doing many of them, from train ticket broker, construction worker, until being a stuntman for a living. All with each challenges. Good act, Indonesian problem, and not like another Indonesian movies. Why tailor? Yeah .. that is what makes me give 9 star on it. Usual but become unusual. Extraordinary.
