The Hindi classic Kahaani (2012) had won many hearts with its strong script and shining performances. It was an unexpected kind of plot that was carried utilising Vidya Balan.
Anaamika (2014, Telugu) is an "adaptation" of Kahaani by filmmaker Sekhar Kammula: an attempt utilising Nayanthara to recreate that
success story. It is made with extensive changes in the screenplay. He gives the story his own spin rather than doing a transparent frame-to-frame copy/remake.
Vidya Balan in Kahaani played a pregnant woman in search of her missing
husband; Nayanthara will not be playing a pregnant character in Anaamika. Nayanthara still had to work hard in her role because she does not get to earn any sympathy for being pregnant like that of Vidya Balan's character.
Anaamika retains the essence of Kahaani but takes a big and refreshing deviation in suspense and climax part from that of the original without diminishing the impact of it.
This sets one of the best examples of how a perfect adaptation/remake should be; it will give the audiences a thrilling impact especially those who have already watched the original. Nobody will be able to guess the suspense.
