    The best

Its Name Was Mormo is a standout in the horror genre, directed by Mark Andrew Bowers. The film cleverly blends found-footage techniques with Greek mythology to tell a chilling story of a family tormented by Mormo, a demon from ancient lore. The narrative follows the family as their lives spiral into chaos, with tension heightened by supernatural occurrences and the raw, documentary-style cinematography.

The film's authenticity is enriched by its unique production. Bowers' real-life family stars, and their personal experiences during filming-such as eerie sounds and unexplained phenomena-add an unsettling layer. This unconventional approach blurs the line between reality and fiction, immersing the audience in the terror.

Thematically, the movie delves into the fragility of family bonds under duress and the dangers of confronting the unknown. Symbolism, particularly drawn from Greek mythology, is woven throughout, creating a rich, multi-layered experience.

Praised for its originality and atmospheric tension, Its Name Was Mormo is a must-watch for fans of psychological and mythological horror.

The most interesting horror film in found footage

What I liked the most was the way two of the characters the little girl and the dog were developed. Honestly they managed to convey a variety of emotions in me I felt like I connected with their story in a way I didn't expect.

I also really liked the plot especially the ending It was so interesting that I think I had an anxiety attack I could feel my hands sweating and my heart racing.

Also, what caught my attention about the movie is that it's different from the other found footage films I've seen in recent years I was surprised by the variety and originality. Those who love the genre know what I'm talking about these past few years, we've seen almost the same thing in every film in the genre. There's been little variety or rather innovation. But its name was mormo succeeded and finally brought something new to the screen, something many of us were hoping for.

Highly recommended for horror lovers like me!

I can't go to the bathroom alone

Listen in closely to the sound design and you'll be surprised. This film is one of a kind, a real family buying their first home, bringing home a puppy... filming their memories until they find an artifact. This one stood out for me as a hit after the first 15 minutes I knew it wouldn't be the same as the other thrown together found footage films. Its not a 10/10, but it's something I would recommend to couples looking for a scary watch. I was impressed with the families connection. The characters are likable and everything else right now seems very samey samey this stands out from the crowd in a good way.

    Meh

I am a big fan of horror movies and I am always looking for the hidden gems of the genre. And while I welcome this entry and I did find it more entertaining than not, it is not really a good movie as far as the basic standards go.

Let me just shortly mention the good things about this movie first: the premise is okay, some scary atmosphere is definitely there, its not tedious or annoying, people do seem genuine (as for the amateur actors at least).

Now, about missing the standards. What I mean is that finding a scary place and filming it at night might be enough to make a creepy-pasta type of video, but for a movie you at least need to try and tie it up with a nice piece of plot and maybe add some visual effects for scares.

What we have here is an absolutely default story, that has been reused countless times before in movies, not only 'found footage', but in all kinds of horrors. So, this part is no good.

Then we have a presence or an entity which is basically kept unexplained and unexplored. We don't get no background, we don't get no insight, the tiny piece of lore that we get is so common and default that it cannot be taken seriously.

I don't think any major visual effects were really used here to spice things up. Even though I don't like it when they go too hard on the effects, just a bit of that in the right moment could've helped, I guess.

We don't get to know the characters well, they are of course introduced, but very superficially, without any deep connections or twists to their personalities or relationships. It's hard to corelate or grow fond of them, even though I must mention - little girl's acting is quite good.

So, while this is definitely a movie and it does have a plot, it is seriously lacking in all departments. It is an okayish art project, but no more than that. We do get to see people running and shouting at night in some obscure places, but that's basically all there is to this movie.

And the worst of all - there is no twist (or did I miss it?!)

All in all, movies of this genre are rare now and I will keep watching them even if they are bad. I guess, you'll keep doing that too, if you're a fan of the genre, so go ahead and check it out if you have nothing better to do.

    Not Worth Money

I spent $4.99 on this film, and that is the ONLY reason I finished it. It was not horrible; I have seen far worse. The acting was decent. But the story itself felt contrived and the ending was easily predictable. The characters made stupid decisions, even for a horror film; decisions that were not believable.

I liked the family. I really thought that they did a good job of letting the viewer get to know the family and consequentally feel empathy for the family... but they wasted too much time in doing so.

And the story itself is dragged out for no other reason, it seems, than to be a full length feature film. And at no point do we get to see the demon; we barely even see any action. This can be good in some movies, but not in a found footage horror film.

I can tell that they put a lot of work into the film, but it still sucks. I hate to say it, but it's true.

My advice: if you really want to see it for yourself, wait until it is on a free platform. It is an uncorked production, and a crappy one at that... it WILL be available to watch for free soon, I an certain.
