While I had indeed never heard about direcor Anggy Umbara's 2024 horror movie "Kromoleo", of course I opted to watch it, as I happened to stumble upon it by random luck here in 2025. And given it being an Asian horror movie, two of my favorite things combined, of course "Kromoleo" was given a fair chance.
I did like the movie's cover and the synopsis seemed interesting, I will say that much. However, the movie was not a particularly outstanding foray into the Indonesian horror genre. Writers Dirmawan Hatta and Cornelio Sunny put together a script and storyline that somewhat failed to properly entertain me, and I found it somewhat of a test of wills to sit through the 80 minutes that the movie ran for.
The acting performances in the movie were fair. I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble, and that was actually speaking in favor of "Kromoleo", as I enjoy watching unfamiliar talents on the screen.
Visually then "Kromoleo" was okay. There were some nice special effects throughout the course of the movie, and they definitely helped to make it all the more bearable to sit through the movie.
"Kromoleo" is not a movie that I would recommend to fans of the Asian horror genre. Nor is it a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time. Indonesia have far better horror movies available.
My rating of director Anggy Umbara's 2024 movie lands on a four out of ten stars.

Love me some horror once in a while and this particular one from netflix looked kinda interesting.. First the positives: The older actors' acting were pretty good. Even the gore and special effects were pretty good too. But man, the acting.... where do I even start?.. I'll make it short. Maybe I will just stick to the most annoying part. The younger actors needed to be directed better especially the zia character. Wow..one dimensional acting.. And why is she always yelling? It was exhausting to watch. Sorry but the next person who even whispers or says anythiing remotely similar to "dika dika dika dika" to me, will get ultra bish slapped.
Kromoleo on Netflix. I don't understand why the Indonesian horror films are based on curse, rituals, blindfaithness, illogical aspects, mind screwing stories etc. Please somebody convey the message to the horror film makers to come out of these and make a real good scary horror films. Further, as I have mentioned in my reviews why these films are made in zero illustration ( except night scenes ).
I see in the titles that quite a few Indians are involved including the producers in making Indonesian films. Why they can not refer to a horror Indian film made in last few years !!! Also learn from other films of Hollywood. Further, the situation or the story happens in a village in each films. Why not in town or city ?
