I had never heard of Zimmerman before and stumbled upon his special while searching for a comedy movie on Hulu. I decided to give it a try and went in blind. The show started a bit slow for me; his delivery was quite mellow. However, as the set progressed, he seemed to relax and find his rhythm, and I found myself enjoying it more.
He managed to be edgy without pushing any particular agenda, sticking to "non-triggering" subjects for good or bad. He touched on relationship humor and shared childhood experiences, connecting them to adulthood in a way that was both hilarious and nostalgically heartwarming. His depiction of a day in the life of a kid was particularly fantastic.
I appreciated the flow of his jokes and the continuity across different topics. Also, he handled audience interactions well, including interruptions, which added to the relatability of his performance. This special wasn't as polished or highly produced as some of the big, one-hour specials I've seen before, but that didn't detract from the experience.
Overall, I found myself chuckling and laughing out loud multiple times, even while watching alone. Although I wasn't laughing constantly, there were enough genuinely funny moments to make me interested in seeing him perform live if he tours in my area and I'd call that a win.
