Doyle is a young medical student who becomes the assistant to Dr. Bell. Doyle attends lectures at universities during the time of the first female students and the resistance to them from conservative England at that time. Together, Doyle and Bell help the police examine the victims' bodies to track down the serial killers. Doyle is skeptical about Bell's method, but as a good student he learns to stick to the facts and makes a meaningful contribution to the investigation. They take a great risk when they conduct their research in high English circles. Together they seem to solve the mystery of the serial killer, but the end of the film has an unexpected twist.
