The official YouTube channel for Shonen Jump+ has unveiled a special Pv for Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man manga to commemorate the release of Volume 19 of the manga.

The Pv is a montage of scenes from Part 2 of the manga, with Beethoven’s 9th Symphony ‘Ode To Joy’, playing in the background. The symphony is meshed with the sounds of chainsaws.

When Arte Germany CEO Wolfgang Bergmann approached Toronto director Larry Weinstein in January 2023 about making a documentary to mark the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the filmmaker didn’t exactly break into a chorus of “Ode to Joy.”

Nor could he have anticipated that his film “Beethoven’s Nine: Ode to Humanity,” which premieres in Toronto at Hot Docs on April 28, would be not only his first to break the fourth wall but also his most personal to date.

A prolific director-producer since his early years with Canada’s Rhombus Films, Weinstein has made numerous acclaimed creative music docs, including “Beethoven’s Hair,” a 2005 forensic adventure exploring the composer’s physical and psychic woes. Since 2007’s Sky Blue Sky, Wilco has settled into a more straightforward musical style defined by stripped-back, acoustic instrumentation and Jeff Tweedy’s confessional songwriting. The web series began shooting in July 2020 and doesn’t yet have a specific release date, but is currently expected to hit sometime next year. Julia, which stars Happy Valley’s Sarah Lancashire in the title role, has added Robert Joy, Erin Neufer, James Cromwell and Adriane Lenox.

Joy, who star on Broadway’s The Girl From the North Country and has appeared in Prodigal Son, will play Hunter Fox, the president of Wgbh. Neufer, who starred in Ink on Broadway as well as recurred on Netflix’s Gypsy, will play Marian Morash, the James Beard Award winning chef who appeared on Child’s cooking show and was married to producer Russ Morash. NBC has given a pilot order to Night Court, a follow-up to the classic legal comedy series, starring The Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch and the original series’ co-star John Larroquette, reprising his Emmy-winning role.

Written/executive produced by Dan Rubin based on the original series created by Reinhold Weege, the multi-camera Night Court centers on unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone (Rauch), the daughter of the late Harry Stone, who follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (Larroquette).

Melissa Rauch and Winston Rauch executive produce via their After January production company; Larroquette is a producer. After January produces in association with Warner Bros. Television, which was also the studio behind the original series, and Universal Television.

Elisabeth Röhm’s new Lifetime movie “Girl in the Basement” is “a call to action about abuse on a very significant level,” the director told TheWrap.

The film stars Judd Nelson as a father who locks his daughter (played by Stefanie Scott) in the basement for 20 years, raping and assaulting her, and even fathering multiple children with her. Meanwhile, her mom and sister live upstairs and believe she ran away to start a new life away from them.

To many, this story might ring a bell. In 2008, Elisabeth Fritzl told Austrian police she had been held captive by her father for 24 years, which resulted in the birth of seven children who remained in captivity with her. While “Girl in the Basement” takes elements from the Fritzl case, Röhm said there were actual multiple stories that inspired the screenplay for her movie.

Jeff Tweedy has shared two new songs, “Guess Again” and “Love Is the King,” from his upcoming solo album, Love Is the King, out October 23rd via dBpm Records.

In a statement Tweedy said the album came about at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown when he began “writing country songs to console myself. Folk and country type forms being the shapes that come most easily to me in a comforting way.”

Fox Corp.’s Tubi is widening the streaming audience for The Joy of Painting, the hushed classic hosted by the late Bob Ross.

Thirty of 31 seasons, totaling almost 400 episodes, will be on Tubi by the end of the month. The first season of the show, which launched in 1983, is not part of the launch.

Cinedigm’s Docurama Channel, which is already on Tubi, will feature the Painting episodes. All 31 seasons of the show already are on YouTube, and Hulu and Amazon also have select seasons for subscription streaming. Cinedigm earlier this year created a Ross-branded streaming channel, which started out on Samsung smart-TVs.

In 1983, Ross and partners Annette and Walt Kowalski debuted Joy on public television, making 400-plus episodes through 1994. Standing before the camera in a locked-off shot, Ross takes viewers through the process of painting landscape scenes, describing his color choices and brush strokes in a calm, even and encouraging tone.

Wilco premiered a new song, “Tell Your Friends,” for their at-home performance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night.

Each member of the band performed the song via livestream surrounded by their spouses, children and pets. The song celebrates the joy and reassurance of being able to reunite with your friends at the end of this pandemic: “Don’t forget to tell your friends/This is going to end/Oh, and I needed you.”

Before production on Jimmy Kimmel Live was shut down due to coronavirus, the late-night show had scheduled Wilco to perform. Since that could no longer take place, Kimmel tapped singer and guitarist Jeff Tweedy to virtually perform his song “Evergreen.”

Tweedy opted to showcase the song, which comes off Tweedy’s 2019 solo effort Warmer, from his bathroom with the help of his two sons, Sam and Spencer. Titled “Live From the Lavatory,” the segment is ambient and lovely, especially as Tweedy’s kids join in on the harmonies.

Wilco performed a surprise concert at a Chicago basketball court, playing songs from their recent album, Ode to Joy. Held last December, the show is now part of Songkick’s live series.

The band launched into “Via Chicago” from 1999’s Summerteeth before playing several Ode to Joy tracks, including the singles “Love is Everywhere (Beware)” and “Everyone Hides,” the latter of which you can watch above. Clips of the full performance are available on YouTube.
