It's really just not a funny show so far. There wasn't a single part in either of the first 2 episodes where I or my wife laughed out loud. The only entertaining character in the show really is Tyler Fischers. This was built up for so long and there was so much hype but it's just very disappointing. They might have been better off if the show was only 18-20 minutes instead of almost 30. The failure to land on the jokes makes those extra minutes that much more grueling. I really hope they're listening to the critiques and attempt to fix it. I'll keep watching the next few episodes to see if it gets better but so far I'm very disappointed.
This was the least funny animated sitcom I've ever watched. I was waiting for jokes to hit, but the monotone voice acting and pace left stale delivery. DailyWire has great ideas, but I find myself extremely disappointed with the final products when they release.
I thought Mr. Birchum was supposed to be a Ron Swanson-esque character, a no-nonsense manly-man with a soft and charming side you see peak out every now and again. I just found Adam Carolla's raspy voice hard to listen to and the character of Mr. Birchum was too much of a Facebook comment section boomer.
Better screenwriters would really help. All in all, I probably won't be watching this show.

Nothing really that new.
Same old jokes, tired, overused, animation style.
I really wish these low-budget "idea without a concept" animated shows would find a NEW animation studio to use. They all look exactly the same.
There's no "style" here... no flair.. Flair examples since the studio CLEARLY has no idea.... Simpson's coloring and non-human shapes.. South Park's "cardboard" characters. Rick and Morty's non-realistic human figures. Solar Opposites off-kilter characters and settings, etc. You know CREATIVE animation. Not just standard human figures and oh, throw in a talking dog, or some other animal, too...
This is one of those shows where someone (Carolla and company) has some random idea for a sitcom, but doesn't have the money or can't raise the money for an actual live action sitcom..... so they take the cheap route.. animation. But there's no real point in it being animation, since it's just supposed to be "real life" situations. Animation mimicking live action because you can't afford live action is boring and pointless.
It's more of the same.. nothing inventive or original. Including the idea behind the show.
Just a low budget way for those behind the scenes to think they can make money with minimal effort and then rendered by an overused animation studio with next to zero artistic creativity.

Plot
Mr. Birchum attempts to navigate a world he doesn't comprehend. He's confused by his gaming streamer son, Eddie, annoyed at his selfie-taking students, and is constantly at war with the school district's appointed "J. E. D. I." Mr. Karponzi.
Cast
Brett Cooper, Adam Carolla, Jay Mohr, Roseanne Barr and.....Megyn Kelly?! Yep, look up what these people have in common, go on.
Verdict
Ack! Where do you start here, I mean really?
First of all let me say that according to certain political "Commentators" (Man I hate that term so much) this is an anti-woke show that's intentionally not PC to strike back at the "Libs". Okay, you're aware of how many non PC shows are out there successfully right? Have you heard of South Park? Family Guy? Monkey Dust and more? This isn't something new, you haven't broken the mold, you've just replicated what already exists while denying its existence in an attempt to change the narrative and make out that censorship is rife and it's not possible to make such a show.
Now putting this foolishness aside what actually is Mr Birchum? Well it's not as mean spirited as I expected, it doesn't antagonize on the scale I thought it would. It tries to play it straight while occasionally throwing childish digs at certain demographics in the most juvenile way imaginable. The quality? Simply not funny, and I mean that unbiased it's just not funny but then look at who wrote it and put on your best surprised face. South Park is in bad taste often, but it's well written and funny this is the opposite end of the scale and is just head scratchingly stupid.
When I was a kid there was this crass childrens show called Round the Bend which was full of poop and fart jokes which naturally appeal to simple minds. Mr Birchum is an adult version of that, it's unfunny and quite frankly stupid but those of the less bright nature may get a kick out of it.
Rants
Resisting the urge to have a good rant here as I fear once I get started I'd melt the keyboard with frenzied fingers. What I will say is I despise the word "Woke", it's lost all meaning. The only people I hear using that word are simply using it totally out of context to describe anything they don't like. Woke is not new, we used to just call it being a respectful human being. Cancel culture is not new, we used to just call it consequences to your actions. Being a white knight is not a new thing, we used to just call it defending someone. How did these things become bad? We're in the age where meanness and cruelty are celebrated and decency is met with confusion and anger. Diversity is a good thing, if you disagree you might want to take a deep breath and engage with the reasons you feel that way.
The Good
Nothing springs to mind
The Bad
Some awful human beings involved in its creation Deeply unfunny Nasty snarky moments that come across very childish The very intentions of the shows existence are just foolish.

This show is so awkward. As soon as it starts, the shoddy animation and ugly character designs are instantly apparent. Also, all the voice acting is slow and poorly paced. It feels like someone put a normal cartoon on 85% speed, as if it's slowing down everything to pander to an imagined low IQ audience.
One thing to note, is that it's clear that star and creator Adam Coralla, is just using this show to air out his grievances with the modern world. Every situation is Corolla making up some straw-man figure and sardonically mocking them. It's a sad power fantasy. There's literally a guitar sting when a character mocks the Green New Deal, it's embarrassing. Carolla even writes in a black-friend character whose sole job is to agree with everything Mr Birchum says. The theme song is a shameless rip-off of 'King of the Hill', and its animation style is like a super-low-rent 'F is for Family'.
'Mr Birchum' feels about 3 decades too late. All the jokes about downtrodden and tired teachers were done better in 'Daria'. Mr Birchum is just a duller Mr DeMartino, and the daughter is just a rip-off of Louise from 'Bob's Burgers'. The comedy is akin to a wine-mum minions meme. All the jokes are derivative and lazy, there's even a cat-on-the-internet joke and a DMV gag! Despite thinking that it's edgy and offensive, 'Mr Birchum' is less offensive than all the shows it's ripping off. Even the pathetic 'Lady Ballers' had more nerve than this show. You're more likely to be offended by an episode of 'Futurama' than this dreck.
The episodes are too long 25+ minutes is way too much for what this show is. The fact that they didn't cut it down to 15 or even 22 minute chunks just shows how overly confident and arrogant this project is. A smarter, more mature creator would have the wherewithal to cut the weaker jokes and keep the comedy short and snappy. There's a reason adult swim episodes are 11-15 minutes. How does Carolla still not understand this after a career in comedy?
It pales in comparison to 'Drawn Together', the best thing Corolla was ever a part of, in terms of humour and transgressive-ness. 'Drawn together' is a very progressive show, so I wonder if Carolla feels a bit insecure that DT will be his main legacy.
This whole experience is just sad and cringe. It's the tv equivalent of the "old man yells at clouds" joke from 'The Simpsons'.

I'd watch Big mouth over this, and that's saying something. It tries to be edgy. But it's basically grandpa humor. Save yourself the time and just rewatch the simpsons, family guy, king of the hill or even the cleveland show instead of this and you'll definitly be spending your time better and will be more fulfilled.
This is painfully hard to even watch. I still have 230 characters to go, but it doesn't even deserve the time. How many ways can I say to not waste your time with it. It's so bad that I got on here to write a review! Adam must have thought that people watches the man show for his jokes... sorry bud! People only watched for the juggies.

I tried to give this show a chance when this show first aired in May and I wanted to see if it could be a funny show that is brand new and could go grow into a cult following show, but after watching some of the episodes of Season 1, it felt just like torture because of how bland and meh this show is with the jokes which is sad because this show is filled with people that are funny and the outcome did not work and it feels weird to see some of this animation that feels very cheap. I will not watch the show in the future if it returns for a second season which I don't know if it will return because of how the first season was received.

I will address the title of my review shortly. So far, so good as I've been laughing quite a bit during the few episodes of Mr. Birchum that I've watched. Hence my rating stands at 9.
If you want a show about feelings, you will likely be triggered by this show. Feelings are pushed aside for entertainment and laughs.
As for the title of my review.... I'm sure others have noticed this pattern but for some reason this show seems to anger anyone from Lithuania? (There are other shows as well).
There are 39 reviews from Lithuania and not a single review over one. All 39 reviews are a one rating as of my review. My other question is how many folks in Lithuania are Daily Wire+ members? I believe many know the answer to this question.

I watched Ladyballers. I then visited my family and they all raved about it. I asked about specific scenes in the movie, they said "Oh I've only watched a clip or two, but the message of the movie is so true and on point! It's funny!" So I had them watch it. Afterwards, they were inches away from canceling their daily wire membership. They were appalled. Daily Wire rips into modern culture and foundry talks about Plato and the Great Gasby,
... fine. Show us what you think our culture needs more of. Show us the what a quality alternative looks like. This show has the same issue as Ladyballers, People seem to like the IDEA of the show more than the actual jokes, characters or story.
This will have its fans. And I'm happy for you. There are many shows and movies I love that I know are awful quality but it just scratches an itch I have. However this IS lacking in quality and holding DW accountable is important. They are young... but not THAT young anymore...and they seem to be investing a lot of energy and money into some rather poor quality products. And they'll keep doing it if they keep seeing people rave at the ideas alone. (I mean if you think about all the Disney defenders out there, they never defend the quality of these Marvel shows or Dr. Who Specials or Star Wars shows etc... they identify with the idea. Maybe let's hold "alternative" media to a higher standard than "this fits into my world view" and start looking for shows that actually deliver good stories, jokes, characters, music... anything really at this point.)
The animation in this is that really uninspired modern "adult cartoon" style that might as well be radio. There is no life breathed into them on a visual level. I remember internet cartoons in the early 2000's that had similar designs but way more inventive animation. The writing is... clunky to say the least. The plot is... there... but motives flip on a dime. I can't tell where people stand on any given plot point. The family dynamics aren't fun to watch. You can have families that don't get along, but you should still feel what drew these people together in the first place. These are joke avatars. The voice acting doesn't do any favors here either but I think it's more of a directing issue than the voice talent themselves. It's hard to be edgy when your character look, sound and feel stale. The whole show is lacking energy and as I mentioned before, it's lacking passion.
Eventually this road DW is heading down is going to burn out people who aren't hungry for ideas that were dated even back when they were relevant. This show has potential to be good, but that just means it hasn't done anything good yet. I really hope this finds it's stride but I won't be tuning in to find out.

I already knew from watching the trailer, several issues. One is the terrible casting, unoriginal plot, and cringeworthy jokes. I only give it a credit because it features Patrick who played Puddy on Seinfeld and Joe on Family Guy. But Patrick? If you're familiar with Netflix, you'll know many of their original adult animated series (with a few exceptions) have awful taste in humor including Hoops and Paradise PD. Now, if an 11- to 14-year-old teen, you might find these shows enjoyable and laugh, and if so, Mr. Birchum is all yours but for adults, this show is a mere exception to the rule of "humor is subjective", it's just not there.

In a time that jokes need to be political correct and not offend anyone, most comedy shows today are boring than ever. And because the mainstream Hollywood nowadays is putting the "message" above good stories and funny jokes, a lot of people are looking for an alternative to mainstream Hollywood.
Mr. Birchum is not a perfect show by any means and some of the jokes are old and no longer funny. The art style is OK for today animated show and the story is not that interesting. But against all the odds I do find the show funny and very charming. The show is not afraid to make offensive jokes or points out the ridiculousness of today's society.
I do understand if people don't find this kind of comedy shows interesting. But the show is anything but bad.
But if you get mad or offended by the show than you're probably one of those people the show is making fun of anyway.

The show is decent. A lot of mediocre jokes. Was hoping it'd be better. If the series continues awhile, maybe it'll find itself?
Noticed some reviews saying that Mr Birchum is a copy of other shows..like Faimly guy. I guess they don't realize family guy is a take on the simpsons, which is a take on the Flintstones, which is a take on the Honeymooners which is a take on... you get the idea.
By the way, I was a big Family guy watcher for about the first 10 seasons. About the first five seasons, the show was so mediocre that it was cancelled....and brought back...and cancelled a second time.
Few shows are great from the start. Time will tell if Mr Birchim finds its legs.

I understand where you're trying to go with everything but man does this feel clunky and slow. It takes forever to get the joke and then when it finally gets there it just does not hit. Seems like you are trying way to hard to get the agenda out there so there is no real flow. Adams voice just drones on, it reminds me of a high school teacher that I had, and that may be what you're going for, but I didn't get a great grade in that class because I lost interest in the subject having to listen to a very Boring speaker. A little inflection will go along way it would be quicker grab to my attention and speed up your pace.

One of the few shows I had to stop watching midway through the first episode. I personally like the Daily Wire's content but between this show and Lady Ballers we see a worrying drop in quality. The show kills an sort of momentum by being so painfully slow you'd wish you were triggered by it so that you could feel something...anything. It takes them 3 minutes to walk out of the carpark at the beginning of the first episode. Another concern is that the jokes get stale quickly, in the first three minutes it already made me worry that the had ran out of content. Perhaps daily wire should consider getting comedians to tell jokes since its a shame their large budget is dumped into such a waste of a show.
Mr Birchum will likely end after just one season - but at the rate they're telling jokes I might be dead by then anyway.

This is a TV/streaming show made by the Daily Wire, a conservative news outlet and streaming site. They specialize in anti-PC shows and movies, mostly comedies. That's fine. We need some anti-PC stuff and we do need comedy. However, just being anti-PC isn't enough to make your show good. It has to work on its own terms. This show does not. Many of the jokes fall flat and much of the dialogue isn't very good. It's almost as if the anti-PC crowd is being preachy and political with their entertainment, which is what they accuse the left of doing. You cannot expect audiences to like your stuff just because you have the "correct" political opinions, and honestly, that can go either way. Your show has to be GOOD, period. This isn't godawful, but it's not very interesting either. Conservatives can be funny (read the Babylon Bee, which is often hysterical), but this isn't one of those times.
Adam Corolla, the creator of this show, seems like a relatively decent guy, but his sense of humor has always been very low brow and dumb dating all the way back to his Man Show days. That hasn't really changed as he's gotten older, so this series comes across as tired and feels like an animated show from the early 00's. So, if you want mild amusement, it's OK for that. But there's nothing here that is gut busting hysterical.

Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum I found Mr. Birchum to be painfully birchdumb. The show is unaware of how to tell a joke.
Most "jokes" in the show fit into 3 categories, politics, shock humor, or someone says something stupid as a setup and the punchline is a cutaway of the setup animated. These are poorly written and executed with bad timing and generally no subversion of expectation. In seinfeld or any comedy for that matter, when George does something stupid it comes back and gets more and more funny throughout the episode. In bircham, it's setup, cutaway of setup then onto the next one. When family guy does cutaways they work because the setup and the cutaway are often different.
Also since the political jokes are inserted as independent "jokes" the writing comes of as preachy. If you like political jokes watch South Park or something else because the political jokes in here regardless of your political beliefs just aren't funny or well written.
In addition the show is also done in the animation style of Netflix's adult comedy's yet somehow feeling even lower budget, and the lackluster voice acting and erie lack of sound effects makes the show feel flat. Seriously how do you have a shop teacher and not have any sanding noise, drills, etc in the background while the kids are working.
It's possible the show has a joke or 2 in the later episodes I was only able to tolerate 2.5 episodes of this show during which not a single setup, subversion, punchline style joke not a chuckle or a smirk just eeriely silent boredom sprinkled with cringe that made me pause it and take a break for a few minutes. If you want a show that feels like the officer's "Michael's tots" episode this may be a winner.
I was so bored in fact I quit watching to sand drywall and paint my spare room something I put off for days and that was the highlight of my evening.

No I'm not saying it's 2024 and there shouldn't be shows like this. Mr. Birchum has a solid foundation and a decent cast to entertain, but the jokes land as slow as the animation in episodes 1 & 2. There are parts that I recognize as funny, heck even solid jokes and wordplay, but the stilted delivery aborts the laugh growing inside of you. Animation & characters remind me of Brickleberry but that show knew when to rapid fire a joke at the audience for the quick laugh and move on. Birchum needs that tighter editing and comedic-delivery style to really have a stronger appeal in the animation world.

"Mr. Birchum," the new animated series from DailyWire+, created by comedian Adam Carolla, brings an intriguing yet somewhat underwhelming offering to the table. The show centers around Mr. Birchum, a no-nonsense junior high woodshop teacher grappling with modern societal changes that he finds bewildering and often frustrating. Despite its promising premise and star-studded voice cast, the series struggles to find its footing in several critical areas.
Firstly, the animation of "Mr. Birchum" appears dated and lacks the smoothness seen in contemporary animated shows. The character movements are slow and awkward, giving the show a lethargic feel that can disengage viewers. This slow-paced animation can be especially noticeable in an era where audiences are accustomed to more dynamic and visually appealing animated content.
The pacing of the show itself exacerbates this issue. Scenes often drag longer than necessary, filled with extended pauses and drawn-out interactions that sap the narrative of its energy. While some shows can leverage a slower pace to deepen character development and atmosphere, "Mr. Birchum" seems to fall into this rhythm due to poor execution rather than a deliberate stylistic choice.
Humor is another crucial element where "Mr. Birchum" falls short. The jokes often feel flat and outdated, failing to resonate with the sharp wit and cleverness that fans expect from modern animated comedies. The humor relies heavily on clichés and predictable punchlines, which can feel uninspired and unoriginal. This lack of effective humor is a significant drawback, especially for a show that positions itself as a comedy.
Moreover, the characters, while having potential, often feel underdeveloped and one-dimensional. Mr. Birchum, voiced by Adam Carolla, is portrayed as a bewildered and irritated figure struggling to understand his gamer son and politically correct school environment. However, his character lacks the depth and endearing quirks that make similar characters, like Hank Hill from "King of the Hill," so relatable and memorable. The supporting cast, including figures voiced by well-known personalities like Roseanne Barr and Megyn Kelly, also falls into familiar archetypes without bringing anything fresh or substantial to the narrative.
The comparisons to "King of the Hill" are almost inevitable, given the thematic similarities. Both shows focus on average families in small-town America dealing with everyday issues. However, where "King of the Hill" excels with its rich character development and balance of humor and heart, "Mr. Birchum" struggles to achieve the same depth. The series feels like an uninspired clone, borrowing elements without successfully integrating the charm and authenticity that made "King of the Hill" a classic.
Despite the challenges, the show's cast and the involvement of high-profile personalities bring some appeal. Adam Carolla's long-standing portrayal of Mr. Birchum, initially popularized on "Crank Yankers," provides a nostalgic touch for SOME viewers. The presence of celebrities like Megyn Kelly and Candace Owens (oh...wait a moment) adds a layer of intrigue, even if their performances don't fully redeem the show's shortcomings.

Overall, I like the concept/content of this show quite a bit. This is pretty much the type of show I'd expect to see the Daily Wire crew put forth (which I consider to be a compliment.) Think Lady Ballers, etc. The execution, though, does leave some room for improvement. As others have noted, the voice acting in the first couple of episodes is a bit stiff. All things considered, this is certainly not unusual for a new show when cast members are still learning their characters and getting used to things. I'm sure this will improve with time. While I'm sure the wokies will be having fits, I can definitely see this quickly becoming a hilarious weekly watch in no time.
Good premise and potential, but the jokes fall flat. The timing just isn't there. It often feels like people are simply reading lines and not actually developing a joke. It's like with any type of comedy, the joke may be there, but not everybody can make you laugh when they tell the joke. It's all about delivery, and the delivery felt choppy and scripted in the first episode. Plus, the jokes are a touch on the predictable end. With that being said, I have only watched episode one thus far, and like most shows, I'm sure they will improve as time goes on. I enjoy Daily Wire and I will be rooting for the show to do well.

It's nice to have a show that isnt left wing BS. It has a decent plot and solid jokes. Something left wing comedy can never do is make fun off itself.
The more support these shows get the more and better they will be. It certainly does a good job at highlight the lefts absurdity and poor logic. Most of their beliefs are based on emotion and feelings.
The voice actors do a great job and animation is on par for most of what is out there currently. It's nice to have a show that isn't full of right wing bashing repeated and over used jokes. Unfortunately the truth isn't as funny so it's not a hold my sides show but very enjoyable.

Reprehensible.
A Disappointing Experience Introduction As a fan of animated series, I approached Mr. Birchum with a sense of curiosity and hope. However, after watching several episodes, I felt compelled to share my thoughts on what can only be described as a disappointing experience. From its lackluster humor to its uninspired animation, Mr. Birchum fails to deliver on multiple fronts, leaving viewers wondering how it ever made it to the screen.
Weak Writing and Humor One of the most glaring issues with Mr. Birchum is its writing. The humor is painfully unfunny, relying heavily on outdated jokes and clichés that feel more suited for a bygone era of television. Instead of clever satire or witty commentary, the show often resorts to cheap gags that fall flat.
For instance, many scenes are filled with predictable punchlines that don't elicit even a chuckle. The attempts at political commentary come off as superficial and uninformed, lacking the nuance that makes shows like The Simpsons or South Park resonate with audiences. Instead of provoking thought or laughter, the humor feels forced and contrived, leaving viewers feeling more frustrated than entertained.
One-Dimensional Characters Another significant drawback of Mr. Birchum is its character development-or lack thereof. The characters are one-dimensional, often embodying stereotypes without any depth or complexity. The titular character, Mr. Birchum, is portrayed as a caricature rather than a fully realized individual. His motivations are unclear, and his personality traits are exaggerated to the point of absurdity, making it difficult for viewers to connect with him on any meaningful level.
Supporting characters fare no better. They often serve as mere plot devices rather than contributing to the story in a meaningful way. This lack of character depth makes it challenging for the audience to invest in their journeys, resulting in a series of interactions that feel hollow and unengaging.
Poor Animation Quality.

Absolutely brutal. There's a reason there are literally NO relevant conservative comedians in 2024. Nor are there any "funny" conservative shows. Literally, none. Because conservatives aren't funny. They can't dish a joke nor can they take one as anything less than a personal attack. They have no humility and can't even make fun of themselves or tell a joke at their expense in the slightest. You can see their forehead vein popping out in a blind rage while they try to pass what they're saying off as "comedy". Not a funny bone in their bodies. And this isn't an opinion. It's a universally known fact. I'm actually shocked Rob Riggle, Patrick Warburton etc associated themselves with The Daily Wire. The payday must have been lucrative.
Unbelievably unfunny. I cannot believe how forced the humor. As a fan of Carolla's commentary, this is patently unwatchable. Amateur hour.
This animated cartoon about a shop teacher falls flat on nearly every level, failing to deliver the humor it desperately aims for. The plot feels disjointed and lacks the charm needed to keep viewers engaged, with jokes that miss the mark and characters that feel one-dimensional. The shop teacher, who should have been the heart of the show, is more of a caricature than a relatable figure, offering little in the way of wit or personality. The animation, while competent, can't salvage the lackluster script or weak comedic timing. Overall, the cartoon feels like a missed opportunity, leaving viewers wishing for a more engaging and funny approach to the concept.

You see whenever it comes to making fun of either the left side, or the right side.. it has to be actually funny, and not just the same old regurgitated "points" and "jokes" and this show... well this show, this is just the same old tired anti left wing/anti liberal jokes that every right wing/conservative make constantly on repeat, its nothing different, nothing new, and definitely nothing funny.. plus its just so slow, and stiff, and just boring, like the pacing, I swear it just drags on and on and on.. its like one of those unfunny "takes way too long" jokes on Family Guy, but instead of it being a 8 minute bit, its the entire show..
long, boring, same old, same old.. that sums up this show perfectly.
