Given people's reactions towards the Gerard Depardieu case in France, it shouldn't be surprising that in a comedy (written mostly by men), women can only be bitter, angry/entitled, angry/feminist or angelical, like the little sister.
I've only watched the first two episodes and I have enjoyed them, but the casual misoginy of the script throws me off. In the first episode you have a mom telling her daughter that by being independent and sure of herself, she scares men off, that she needs to tone it down, leave the extrems (of course by getting laid).
The second episode shows the angry, annoying wife wanting to hook up with someone other than her husband and an empowered woman who doesn't shut up, doesn't know what she wants and only finds pleasure when she's tricked into thinking she decided how the man had to take her.
Did we really need those characterizations? I don't think they add anything to the plot, but at least they let me see where the creator stands on this subject matter.

Took me 2 episodes to suss who's voice was dubbed over Lupin/Ben's voice for the English version.....It's Will Mellor!... Perfect comedy timing that Mr mellor is so fantastic at! I can't believe I put off watching this great giggle... Loads of flesh and sexyness and comedy to boot... It's like a more grown up on steroids version of full monty at first.. love all the twists and plot lines! Great scenery too. I like how each character has their own story to tell. You're in for a non misogynistic viewing. Great turn the tables kinda show. All the male and female cast are beautiful in their own rights and certainly not a one size fits all show.
First of all the environs are fabulous. At first glance it could be Australia or the USA but is actually set in France so the whole feel of the programme is different and all the better for it. I'm 2 episodes in and have already laughed a lot out loud but it also does pathos with one of the characters having a hard time with his life. Gorgeous actors also helps and again as it's not Hollywood, the faces of the actors take you to France. It's themes are not original but it is far more complex than the seminal movie shot in Sheffield. It will to interesting to see where this goes storywise and hopefully some of the female characters will have their stories expanded.
There are a wide range of heartfelt emotions in this season 1 series. Ben's father has died, and his mother earlier, so he returns to the family farm, which raises honey from their bees. Left is his sister, Charly, who is 17 and needs to show a stable family life to remain there. The farm is on the verge of total default, with no money, and the bank ready to possess everything. Ben has good friends Ludo, Zak and Mathias. Mathias has a way with women and earns good money. Since honey cannot pay enough of the bills, they decide to try an escort service, and Charly acts as the business manager. It is done with a lot of humor and also a learning curve for them, as they are beholden to the desires of the woman who hire them. One of the subplots is that Ben is still madly in love with Romane, who has since married Chef Pierre Morand, and thinks he can still win her back. And how Ludo, being married to Nora, got an entire change in his marriage through his work. Nora became almost glowing. This series should elicit a lot of smiles from the viewer.
What I mean by the title is that at last there's a comedy drama that has convincing drama as well as comedic aspects that had me laughing out loud at times. I wish the series had had more than six episodes! I was enjoying myself.
The four lads are all hunks and believable as gigolos. They each had distinct personalities and attributes. A nice touch in the series was that their characters actually developed over the episodes. I'm dying to find out if young Zak accepted his final client. I also want to find out how the machinations of wicked Olga Sakiris impinge on the family business and on the relationships between the protagonists. I'm sure we'll find out as it looks certain a second season is on the way.
One duff note is the role played by Charly. I don't think a seventeen year old would have the sophistication to run a business or deal with its admin. That's minor though.
I just hope season two isn't too far away.
