There was a lot to be disappointed by in season 3 of "Ted Lasso," but none bummed me out more than what they did with the show's best character, Roy Kent. Now, I'm not exactly mad about things they did to the character (though the ending of the Roy/Keeley relationship still baffles me). It's more about what they didn't do, and I don't feel like Roy was given all that much to do this season, particularly when it comes to his life outside of Richmond. The first two seasons gave Roy arcs that challenged him to grow as a person, and in season 3, he feels more just like a guy who works for the football club who occasionally gets funny lines to say.
It is unsurprising that for the first two seasons, Brett Goldstein won the Emmy for his performance as Roy. His ability to play the gruffest of outer...

A sixth Terminator movie is on the way, and it's already got quite the cast. Both of the stars from the 1984 original, Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, have agreed to return for the new installment. The Hollywood Reporter announced the exciting news at an event in La on Tuesday, where it was also revealed that the sixth movie will pick up where T2: Judgement Day left off, ignoring the three subsequent sequels. Hamilton hasn't appeared as Sarah Connor since 1991, but it definitely seems like the reboot is in good hands. James Cameron, who made the first two films in the franchise, wrote the story and is on board as producer, while Deadpool's Tim Miller is set to direct. The writers' room also included David Goyer (The Dark Knight), Charles Eglee (Dark Angel), and Josh Friedman (The Sarah Connor Chronicles). At the event in La, Cameron seemed to double...

Fear The Walking Dead recently concluded its second season with a phenomenal and ferocious two-episode finale that pulled no punches emotionally and physically. With season 2 officially in the books, Daily Dead had the chance to talk with showrunner / executive producer / writer Dave Erickson about the tragic end of one character's story arc, the altered relationships and mindsets of those who survived season 2, the potential return of familiar faces in season 3, and whether or not we'll see another companion web series like Flight 462 airing throughout The Walking Dead Season 7. *Spoiler warning for those who haven't finished watching Fear The Walking Dead Season 2.*
Bravo on a stunning season 2 finale. Those were two of the most intense, well-made episodes, not only of Fear the Walking Dead, but in The Walking Dead universe as a whole. In this second half of the season, the writers and Kim Dickens have peeled back more layers of Madison,...

Conventional wisdom would have it that crippling mental illness isn't a good subject for a sitcom. But there's nothing conventional about Maria Bamford's brand of comedy. Fans of her stand-up and such through-the-rabbit hole projects like 2012's Maria Bamford: The Special Special Special — in which the 45-year-old comedian performs a taped set for just her parents in their living room — know that she isn't afraid to tap into very dark, very personal places in her work. So when Bamford announced she was developing a sitcom for Netflix that...

Fun, lighthearted superhero show Supergirl was the clear standout among the five TV shows showcased at yesterday's closing day of New York Comic Con. This was partly because Supergirl was the only show, including Gotham and Heroes of Tomorrow, that presented its entire pilot prior to a panel discussion featuring showrunner Ali Adler and actors Gil Bellows and Mehcad Brooks. Bellows and Brooks, who respectively play Justice League fan favorite Maxwell Lord and Superman mainstay Jimmy Olsen, were winsome throughout the panel. But Adler, along with the pilot, was next-level charming. Vulture attended the panel and picked up five things you can look forward to in season one.1. The Writers' Room Is 50 Percent Female Adler was quick to address the fact she's a female superhero showrunner. This is a bit like being a unicorn, but a showrunner, too. "We're all so excited that it's Supergirl, and that is the conversation...

As Daredevil's Steven DeKnight signs up for Transformers duties, it's revealed that up to a dozen scripts are likely to be worked on...
Further recruits have been added to the writer's room for the planned Transformers movie universe. The story so far on this is that Akiva Goldsman is heading up a collection of scribes, that already features The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Christina Hodson & Lindsey Beer, Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari (who worked on Ant-Man), Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Pacific Rim), Zak Penn (Pacific Rim 2) and Jeff Pinker (Lost). So, including Goldsman, that's seven writing teams, and 10 individual writers.
But there's more. At the end of last week, Black Hawk Down's Ken Nolan signed up, as did Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who's been writing a space thriller for Roland Emmerich. And now we learn that Daredevil season one showrunner Steven DeKnight is on board as well. So, we make that 10 writing teams,...

So the big Emmys don't air until next Sunday night and at Moviefone we will have, of course, full coverage. But last night the Creative Arts Emmys were handed out, for the people that are largely responsible for making these shows that you absolutely love -- you know, the behind-the-scenes talent tasked with conceptualizing and realizing your favorite programs. Oh -- and some guest actor and actresses awards were handed out, so there's that too!

The first round of 2014 Emmy Awards were handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony on Saturday (August 16) night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The ceremony, which precedes the Monday, August 25 Primetime Emmy Awards telecast, offered signs of hope for a number of drama and comedy hopefuls. Netflix's "Orange Is The New Black," for example, won Emmys for editing, series casting and for Uzo Aduba, who is considered a guest actress for the purposes of these awards. No other comedy series was able to build any other momentum going into next week's show, with "The Big Bang Bang Theory," "Nurse Jackie," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" grabbing isolated tech prizes and Jimmy Fallon winning the Guest Actor in a Comedy Series award for the second time in three years for his "Saturday Night Live" hosting duties. The two guest acting awards on the drama side...

Jim Rash can do no wrong. From his impeccable five-year performance as the Dean on "Community" to his Angelina Jolie-inspired, perfectly-timed pose at the 2013 Academy Awards, to an astute parody of "True Detective" with buddy Joel McHale, the Oscar-winning screenwriter is charming to the nth degree on and off camera. As the host of SundanceTV's "The Writers' Room," he effortlessly pushes for insights from some of the most in-demand writers out there -- and often gets them. While the mood is light during the Q&A session, the entertainment value is high thanks to well-chosen guests, intuitive features, and, of course, its amiable host. The second season kicks off Friday, April 18th with the creator, lead actress, and writers of ABC's hit late night soap opera, "Scandal" (a well-timed episode considering the show's season finale airs Thursday night). Creator Shonda Rhimes, Kerry Washington, and writers Mark Wilding, Jenna Bans,...

Three seasons in, "Game of Thrones" is one of HBO's biggest hits. But before the show hit the air in 2011, there were real questions about whether it would work at all.
Executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss discuss those early struggles -- including a storm in Malta that destroyed some of the show's sets -- on Monday's (Aug. 26) episode of "The Writers' Room" on Sundance Channel. Weiss says in the clip above -- which is exclusive to Zap2it -- that early in production, "Everything had not been as smooth as possible. We got to this where if that week of scenes hadn't worked, it felt like were going to be shunted over to the disaster control department."
Weiss adds that HBO executives had made "veiled" references to the show reaching its "Waterloo," a sentiment Benioff says filtered down to the show's producers.

The people who bring "Dexter" to life visit "The Writers' Room" on Monday (Aug. 12), and it appears they like their dialogue short and not so sweet.
