Charmless. The show has lost its way

This show started out strong. It had interesting characters and some decent stories to tell. The cast were rounded out in the next couple of seasons adding depth and turning the show into more of an ensemble affair.

But six seasons in we know all the original characters secrets, the new characters are weak and one dimensional and the mix of comedy and drama that previously worked so well has become farce and melodramatic nonsense.

When a smart show is no longer funny or clever it's time to call it a day.

I may watch the rest of this season on the off chance that things improve but my optimistic is low .

    It can't get worse

The writing for this show couldn't even pass muster for the lowest rated afternoon soap opera that is about to be canceled. It was a cliché of every little thing that could go wrong and then magically fixed. This is allegedly a police show but real cops who behaved like this would not be working for the LAPD. ( I certainly would hope not.) Some people blame this on Juarez, but getting rid of her will not fix their problems.

They have a very large cast and as usual revisit every single member and their individual problems. It doesn't advance the story because there is none. They can't leave annoying characters from the past forgotten in the past. For this episode it was Skip Tracer Randy and the red-headed lawyer who had someone murdered last week. Will it take till next year to send her to prison? If this is an example of what the writers who got a raise after the strike can produce, the studios got ripped off. The writers should be fired.

    getting annoying

I have enjoyed this show, but it has become the Bailey show. She is an awful actress and the character is so over the top, I can't stand her. She shows up at every single crime scene in a different capacity. Is she a cop and a doctor now too? I was really hoping they would not get married and she would be gone in the next season. I've already had way too much of her already.

Then there is the new evil lawyer that shows up at every single case. How does she get away with it, she's so obvious. It is too ridiculous and awful.

Randy is funny and likeable, but now we're getting him all the time so now he's just annoying.

Why are you doing this to us?

"The Rookie" has lost its charm, turning from a compelling show into one marred by poor writing and lackluster storylines. The introduction of an annoying corrupt lawyer and a parade of repetitive characters have dragged down the plot, making it feel stale and uninspired. It's clear that the show needs a serious reset before viewers abandon it for good. To regain its former glory, "The Rookie" must return to its roots, focusing on the engaging police stories that initially captivated audiences. Without this shift, it's hard to see how the show can recapture the magic that once made it a hit. The end.

Lucy Chen: Got a minute to talk?

Tim Bradford: Uh, sure. There's nothing to talk about. You felt I undermined you at a crime scene to stop you from making detective. I explained that I didn't. Now we're moving on.

Lucy Chen: Okay. Well, while I appreciate the efficiency, that's not how actual healthy communication works.

Tim Bradford: Wow, that's not condescending at all. Explain to me what there is to talk about that isn't just a retread of what I just efficiently covered?

Lucy Chen: Well... that's not the point. Look, if I have to start another deep undercover assignment, there are real issues here that we need to talk about.

Tim Bradford: Which we will deal with if they come up then. I gotta get to work. Have a good shift.
