Exclusive: Talia Ryder has boarded Rob Burnett’s comedy film In Memoriam alongside Marc Maron.

Burnett (The Fundamentals of Caring) wrote the script, and he will direct the film for Invention Studios (Thelma).

In Memoriam will begin shooting in Los Angeles on Monday, telling the story of a veteran Hollywood actor (Maron) who becomes obsessed with securing a spot in the Oscars’ “In Memoriam” montage after he receives a terminal cancer diagnosis. This leads to a heartfelt journey of self-exploration as well as ego, humility and legacy.

Ryder has appeared in films like Little Death (2024), The American (2023), The Sweet East (2023), Dumb Money (2023), Do Revenge (2022), Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between (2022), Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story (2021) and Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020). Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans are starring in their own spin on “Guardians of the Galaxy”….meets the North Pole.

Johnson plays the North Pole’s Head of Security who, aside from coaching Santa (J.K. Simmons) to get shredded, enlists the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Chris Evans) to help save Christmas. The highly-anticipated holiday heist film “Red One” is directed by Jake Kasdan and is written by Chris Morgan, with the script based on a story by Hiram Garcia.

The official synopsis reads: After Santa Claus – Code Name: Red One – is kidnapped, the North Pole’s Head of Security (Johnson) must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Evans) in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.

Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Bonnie Hunt, Kristofer Hivju, Nick Kroll, and Wesley Kimmel also star.

Johnson, Kasdan, Garcia, Morgan, Dany Garcia, and Melvin Mar produce the Amazon MGM Studios feature.

Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans face an unusual array of holiday challenges in the first trailer for their Christmas movie Red One.

Jake Kasdan’s action-comedy feature from Amazon MGM Studios is set for worldwide theatrical release on Nov. 15. Red One centers on North Pole head of security Callum Drift (Johnson) and naughty-lister Jack O’Malley (Evans) teaming up after the disappearance of Santa Claus, who is known as “Red One” and played by J.K. Simmons.

“Are you saying Santa Claus has been kidnapped?” Evans asks in the trailer.

Rounding out the cast are Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Nick Kroll, along with Bonnie Hunt as Mrs. Claus.

The film’s teaser poster was released in an Instagram post Monday and hinted at the story by showing a “Missing” poster for Santa Claus, who was last seen at the North Pole. “We need your help,” read the caption signed by Callum Drift.

Margaret Qualley and Demi Moore are teased as playing the same character for feminist body-horror thriller “The Substance.”

The Cannes feature, which premieres in competition at the festival, has already been picked up by Mubi for worldwide distribution. French director Coralie Fargeat helms her sophomore film, following her debut “Revenge” which premiered at TIFF in 2017.

“The Substance” is titled for a mysterious serum that transforms users into the ideal versions of themselves. The elusive official synopsis reads: “It generates another you. A new, younger, more beautiful, more perfect you. And there’s only one rule: You share time. One week for you. One week for the new you. Seven days each. A perfect balance. Easy. Right? If you respect the balance…what could possibly go wrong?”

The teaser shows Moore intently watching an ad for the substance injection and contemplating undergoing its cellular division. Could Qualley be who Moore transforms into?...

A24 has officially signed on to John Patton Ford’s “Huntington” (working title) for U.S. distribution. Also joining are new cast members Ed Harris and Margaret Qualley, who will star alongside the previously announced Glen Powell.

“Huntington” is a revenge thriller that follows Becket Redfellow (Powell), the “heir to a multi-billion-dollar fortune who will stop at nothing to get what he deserves… Or what he thinks he deserves.”

Ford will direct “Huntington” (or whatever it is titled by then). He already wrote the original screenplay, which was inspired by the film’s financier Studiocanal’s “Kind Hearts and Coronets,” the classic 1949 crime film starring Alec Guinness, who famously played eight different roles in the film.

Ethan Coen has assembled a stellar cast for “Honey Don’t!,” his follow-up to this year’s “Drive-Away Dolls.”

Thirteen new actors have joined the cast of “Honey Don’t!” that already includes stars Chris Evans, Margaret Qualley, and Aubrey Plaza. Rounding out the ensemble are “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Charlie Day, “Bros” star and comedian Billy Eichner, and “Never Rarely Sometimes Always” actress Talia Ryder, IndieWire has learned. Also joining the cast are Lera Abova, Jacnier, Gabby Beans, Kristin Connolly, Lena Hall, Don Swayze, Josh Pafchek, Kale Brown, Alexander Carstoiu, and Christin Antidormi.

“Honey Don’t!” is filming now in New Mexico and will be released by Focus Features, which also released “Drive-Away Dolls,” Ethan Coen’s first feature as a solo director separate from his brother Joel Coen. The new film is reportedly set in Bakersfield, California, with Evans playing a cult leader, Qualley portraying a private investigator, and Plaza as a mystery woman.

While the world awaits the imminent Coen Brothers reunion (reportedly a horror film!), Ethan Coen is busy at work with partner Tricia Cooke on their second film together, “Honey Don’t!.” The film’s in production now, and Deadline reports that Coen & Cooke had added a slew of new names to their cast list. Among the new players? “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” Charlie Day and comedian Billy Eichner, among others.

As previously announced, Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza and Chris Evans will lead the ensemble. Details as to the film’s plot are currently under wraps, though it’s said to be in the same vein as Coen’s comedy Drive-Away Dolls, starring Qualley, which Focus released earlier this year. Production is currently underway in New Mexico.

Margaret Qualley is backing out of a new Hulu limited series where she was supposed to play Amanda Knox.

It was reported back in March that the 29-year-old actress had joined the untitled project.

The project was described as being “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.”

Deadline broke the news about her departure, reporting that she was unable to maintain the role due to “scheduling conflicts.”

At the moment, she is working on a movie called Honey Don’t!, which she stars in with Aubrey Plaza. The outlet noted that she “has other features lined up.”

Exclusive: Margaret Qualley has pulled out of playing Amanda Knox in Hulu’s upcoming limited series for scheduling reasons.

Qualley, two-time Emmy nominee for Netflix’s Maid and FX’s Fosse/Verdon, just saw her two upcoming movies, Kinds of Kindness and The Substance, both get selected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Recently seen in Poor Things, she is currently filming Honey Don’t! and has other features lined up.

The untitled Hulu limited series from writer Kj Steinberg and 20th Television in association with The Littlefield Company, was officially greenlighted last month with Qualley on board to star and executive produce. The role is now being recast. The development won’t impact production plans as the eight-episode project is scheduled to start filming in October.

The limited series covers Knox’s 16-year journey to set herself free after being wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher.

Aubrey Plaza and Dan Levy, the stars of “Happiest Season,” are reunited for short film “Decades of Confusion,” which is basically a commercial for fashion brand Loewe. If only Plaza could spell it.

It ain’t your average retail ad: “Black Mirror” director Ally Pankiw directed the short that was penned by “Good Grief” and “Schitt’s Creek” star Levy.

Plaza stars as a contestant in a spelling bee that spans each decade from 1971 to the present day. Levy is the (frustrated) judge. Plaza may not be able to spell “Loewe”, but she sure can put together an outfit from the fashion house. Plaza combs the Loewe archives to transform into a new character for the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, 2000s…

It’s apparently time to rejoice for those who thought the Coen Brothers had forsaken them and broken up for good. In a new Associated Press interview promoting “Drive-Away Dolls,” Ethan Coen confirms reports that he’s going to make a horror movie with his brother Joel Coen after he makes his next movie, “Honey Don’t.”

“We talked about it for a long time, but we hadn’t actually written anything,” Coen said, the AP describing it as a horror film that they wrote fresh, not from an old screenplay.

Lilly Wachowski is officially making her solo feature directorial debut after sister Lana Wachowski helmed “The Matrix Resurrections.”

As confirmed to Collider, Lilly will direct upcoming queer dramedy “Trash Mountain,” with lead actor Caleb Hearon penning the script. Colin Trevorrow has signed on as a producer, along with Eddie Vaisman and Julia Lebedev at Sight Unseen.

Per the official synopsis, “Trash Mountain” follows a gay Chicago man in his 20s who must return to rural Missouri to deal with the death of his father — an obsessive hoarder who has left a house full of items, some valuable and some not so, to pick through. “Human Resources” writer and “Fargo” actor Hearon cowrote the script with Ruby Caster.

Ethan Coen’s solo directorial career is going full speed ahead with his narrative feature debut, “Drive-Away Dolls.”

Coen, working for the first time sans brother Joel Coen in the narrative space, co-wrote the screenplay for the queer crime comedy with his wife Tricia Cooke. “Drive-Away Dolls” centers on Jamie (Margaret Qualley), an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, who encourages her demure friend Marian (Geraldine Viswanathan) to break out of her shell by way of a vacation.

The official logline reads: “In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way.”

Pedro Pascal, Matt Damon, Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, and Annie Gonzalez co-star in the Focus Features ensemble film.
