Summaries

  • After sisters Emily and Mary Wilde lose their lives at a party in 1871 they find themselves stuck in purgatory unable to move on. The sisters navigate through unraveling the hidden truths of their past. But who is really in Denial?

Synopsis

  • "In the desolate snowy expanse of 1871 Monaghan, a grand country manor hosts a lively party that takes a tragic turn when screams pierce the night, and two figures ablaze fall out into the snow. Fast forward to a dated civil service office in the present day, where Emily and Mary Wilde, trapped in denial after their untimely deaths, face a compassionate Death Officer.

Intoxicated Mary struggles through the stages of grief, rejecting the reality of her demise. The Death Officer, seeking a solution, decides to escalate their case to the enigmatic Death Master. Emily is forewarned that the next phase may force them to start the afterlife process anew.

Returning to the purgatory waiting room, the sisters share space with other souls processing their own demises. The Death Master transports them back to the fateful night, where Emily and Mary witness their own accident. This catalyses Mary's long-suppressed emotions, leading to an explosive confrontation between the sisters.

In the heat of the argument, Mary articulates her resentment, unearthing painful truths about their past. The intense exchange forces Emily to confront her own struggles with acceptance and moving on. As the sisters grapple with their turbulent history and differing beliefs, the question arises: Can they find common ground and transcend their unresolved issues to finally move on?

Amidst the emotional turmoil and poignant revelations, "The Wilde Sisters" is a compelling journey of forgiveness, self-discovery, and the profound realisation that sometimes, the greatest barriers to moving forward are the ones we build within ourselves."
