God, how do they keep getting worse? I know that Barbie is really trying to take a new direction, but seriously nobody enjoys this. Even the newer generation of children prefer the older Barbie movies, and I am NOT kidding when I say that. The new movies are JUST that BAD. Please go back to whimsical fairy tales, Mattel!
So, lets get into this movie specifically. This is in the series of "Barbie and ____ Sister do ____", and basically this movie is about being a middle child and being at that awkward age where you're not quite a kid but not quite a teen, and seem to fit in nowhere. Honestly, a really good subject for children's media to pick up on!
The thing is though, the movie is literally just... bad. The movie is more angering and irritating than anything else, it's truly difficult (impossible) to enjoy, even ironically. From the super autotuned out of place pop songs and dances, to the sims 2 looking graphics for food and grass, and to the fact that all of the side characters are out to get the main characters for no apparent reason, this is overall a bad movie. Just about everything about it could have been done better.
Mattel, we all unanimously beg you to make good movies again. Nobody likes Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures or Barbie Vlogs or whatever. Nobody likes your new movies about the sisters and whatever else since after 2014. With the Barbie live action from 2023, as well as the 2000s fairy tales, both with all star casts and amazing writers/directors, we know you can do better than this. Seriously, give us something good or nothing at all. I hate being disappointed time and time again, and so does everyone else.
