Painful
I try to support Tyler Perry but sometimes he makes it so difficult. Couldn't sleep so I decided to turn this movie on. This is just one person's opinion, but it was just awful. First of all, the 2 best friends were stereotypical no man having black women. Then, what was she thinking going to cold Denver, Colorado in that outfit!!! Then to add insult to injury, she thought Colton was her "boyfriend" or going to ask to be her boyfriend. The plot, script, writing and dialog was just awful in my opinion.
Joy Not Found
Tyler Perry's Finding Joy (2025) aspires to be a celebration of Black love but offers no novelty, adhering strictly to a predictable, contrived, and cliché-ridden formula. The narrative is critically hobbled by an absence of genuine conflict or stakes, forcing its solid but unremarkable cast to portray characters who are bafflingly immature for their age, all while navigating corny dialogue. This is a technically uneven affair; its pleasant, Hallmark-style cinematography is consistently undermined by lackluster sound design and uninteresting editing. The result is a shallow, forgettable diversion that, despite a lukewarm positive message, provides few laughs and evaporates from memory the moment it ends.
This is beyond bad!
Do not waste 108 minutes of your life watching this ridiculous movie.
It is an absurd story that never makes any sense.
The main characters are supposed to be endearing but they come across as disturbed neurotics in need of very intensive therapy.
Another script written by a chatbot after it suffered a short circuit!

Compared to other Hallmark-type Christmas Romances...
...this movie is petty decent. So I am giving it a 6. I realize that comparison isn't setting the bar very high, though.
This movie has a split personality. There are the comedic, wacky scenes with goofy side characters and an overall plot you aren't expected to take seriousliy. Then there are the romantic scenes with the two main characters stranded, alone, getting to know each other which, although there is an element of humor, explore more serious human feelings and experiences. I think the 2 lead actors do a decent job of carrying those extended, serious scenes. And the cast, as a whole, also do a good job getting into the spirit of the crazy plot.
Unfortunately, the two, different, aspects of the movie don't mesh. I think part of the problem is that Tyler Perry wrote, directed, and produced, all 3. He should have handed either the writing or the directing task to someone else, creating a collaboration that would hopefully nurture objectivity and create a more cohesive outcome.
But this is just lightharted, fun, holiday entertainment; so I can't be too picky. Overall it was fun to watch.

That was actually pretty okay.
Tyler Perry's Finding Joy (2025) is the latest movie written and directed by Tyler Perry and it follows a NYC designer who finds unexpected love and transforms her life and career path, while stranded in Colorado after a devastating holiday revelation. I just got done watching this movie and it was pretty okay for a Tyler Perry movie.
Positives for Tyler Perry's Finding Joy (2025): The story is pretty good and simple enough to follow. The acting from the cast is pretty good. The movie looks nice with how it's being shot. The pacing is decent enough for the most part. And finally, I like the ending of the movie and it was satisfying enough.
Negatives for Tyler Perry's Finding Joy (2025): This movie has some dramatic moments that didn't land for me, but that is the case with Tyler Perry. There are some decisions made by characters that got on my nerves. The movie is a bit too slow and it drags on for a while. And finally, the movie was a bit too long for its own good.
Overall, Tyler Perry's Finding Joy (2025) is one of the more watchable and tolerable movies from Tyler Perry as a filmmaker which is good because I thought this was going to be much worse than I expected.
