Exclusive: Justin Chon, Bobby Hundreds and Garrett Basch are developing the half-hour series Burnfield based on Hundreds and Chon’s experience in the streetwear scene, preemptively bought by FX, sources tell Deadline.

Hundreds (née Kim) co-founded the streetwear brand The Hundreds alongside Bobby Hundreds (née Shenassafar) more than two decades ago. According to its official website, the company’s apparel is reminiscent of ‘90s workwear and Californian subculture tribes. Bobby Hundreds noted on the company’s blog in 2016, that he found inspiration in the early years from “an enclave of renegade graphic designers coming out of San Diego, Hawaii, and Hong Kong” because they were “weird with placements, neon prints, and bold statements.”

Chon owned and operated a chain of streetwear multi-stores called The Attic in Southern California for 10 years.

Chon and Hundreds will co-create and co-showrun the series.

FX is heading back to Oklahoma. The network has picked up a drama pilot from creator Sterlin Harjo (“Reservation Dogs”) and star Ethan Hawke to series, Variety first reported and Gold Derby can confirm.

The series’ plot details are being kept under wraps, but it’s described as “a Tulsa noir about a guy (Hawke) who knows too much.” It’s a reunion of sorts for Harjo and Hawke, as the latter guest-starred in the second-to-last episode of Harjo’s FX comedy series “Reservation Dogs.” Harjo created the new series and directed the pilot and will serve as executive producer. Hawke will also serve as executive producer. Garrett Basch (“Reservation Dogs”) is also an EP.

FX has picked up Sterlin Harjo’s drama pilot starring Ethan Hawke, Deadline has confirmed.

We broke the news in February that the project had been given a pilot order which reunites Harjo, co-creator, executive producer and showrunner of the network’s acclaimed series Reservation Dogs, with Hawke, who appeared in the Emmy-nominated series’ penultimate episode.

Created by Harjo, the drama is a Tulsa noir about a guy (Hawke) who knows too much.

The pilot cast includes Keith David, Siena East, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson, Scott Shepherd, Tracy Letts , Kyle Maclachlan and Macon Blair.

We spoke to Harjo on the red carpet at the Emmy’s (video above), where he shared his excitement over his new collaboration with Hawke.

The Disney-owned outlet has placed a series order for a drama starring Ethan Hawke (who guest-starred on the final season of Reservation Dogs). The untitled series, formerly known as The Sensitive Kind, is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is said to have a film noir vibe centering on Hawke’s character, a “guy who knows too much.” Other details are being kept quiet for now.

FX is moving forward with its drama from Ethan Hawke and Sterlin Harjo, TheWrap has learned. The series originally received a pilot order in February, at which point it was tentatively titled “The Sensitive Kind.”

The upcoming drama is described as “a Tulsa noir about a guy who knows too much,” according to the official logline, and is produced by Fxp. Hawke will star in and executive produce the drama series, while the “Reservation Dogs” co-creator will serve as its creator, executive producer, writer and director. Ethan Hawke must’ve enjoyed his guest spot on Reservation Dogs: The Oscar-nominated actor will star in a new drama, written and directed by Reservation Dogs co-creator Sterlin Harjo, which just earned a series order at FX, our sister site Variety reports.

Ethan Hawke and Sterlin Harjo’s FX drama pilot has been ordered to series at FX, Variety has learned exclusively from sources.

The pilot was originally commissioned in February under the title “The Sensitive Kind” with Hawke in the lead role. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps aside from the fact it is described as a “Tulsa noir about a guy (Hawke) who knows too much.”

The pilot was filmed in Oklahoma back in April and May. Keith David, Siena East, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson, Scott Shepherd, Tracy Letts, Kyle Maclachlan, and Macon Blair all starred opposite Hawke in the pilot, with additional cast including Killer Mike, Kaniehtiio Horne, Cody Lightning, Michael Hitchcock, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

Harjo created the series and serves as executive producer, while he also directed the pilot. Hawke will executive produce in addition to starring, with Garrett Basch executive producing as well.

Exclusive: Keith David has signed with Verve for representation.

Most recently, David joined the cast of the 20th Century feature film Mike, Nick, Nick & Alice and will play the villain opposite Vince Vaughn, James Marsden, Eiza Gonzalez and Jimmy Tatro.

With a career spanning over four decades, David has a long list of feature credits including iconic films such as Platoon and Crash—both Academy Award winners for Best Picture—Requiem for a Dream, There’s Something About Mary, They Live, Nope, and most recently, American Fiction for which he received his first SAG award nomination.

On the television side, David just wrapped filming on FX’s The Sensitive Kind, where he stars alongside Ethan Hawke. He will also feature in the upcoming HBO Max series Duster, produced by JJ Abrams and Latoya Morgan, as well as the limited series The Gray House, produced by Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman.

Exclusive: Tracy Letts and Moses Ingram have joined the ensemble cast of Kathryn Bigelow‘s next film at Netflix. The untitled thriller also stars Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Jared Harris, Greta Lee and Gabriel Basso. Bigelow will direct.

Netflix had no comment on the casting.

The film’s title and plot remain under wraps, though sources have told Deadline that it will be set at the White House as a national crisis unfolds. The project marks Bigelow’s first feature since the 2017 thriller Detroit, an awards contender produced and distributed by Annapurna Pictures.

Letts is coming off his Emmy-nominated performance in the HBO series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty in which he played coach Coach Jack McKinney. He can be seen next in the Peacock series Mr. Throwback starring Stephen Curry. That series bows August 8.

Exclusive: Amplify Pictures, the indie studio behind HBO’s Emmy winner 100 Foot Wave and the upcoming Legends for Nat Geo/Disney+, has greenlighted development on LA Native, a new half-hour comedy series written and created by Siena East (Clone High).

The show centers on Genoa Now, an unruly Native twentysomething in Los Angeles trying to make friends and connect with her Native American culture. Chadd Gindin, East’s collaborator on Fox’s animated series Grimsburg, will serve as showrunner and exec produce the project alongside Amplify Pictures.

Saturday Night Live veterans Molly Shannon and Steve Koren (Superstar, A Night at the Roxbury) are again joining forces for a new comedy currently in development at HBO, our sister site Deadline reports.

Koren will pen the project starring Shannon as a woman deeply addicted to celebrity news and gossip who finally agrees to get help after her friends and family stage an intervention. But she checks into a fancy celebrity rehab center in Malibu, which she treats more like a stay at the Four Seasons rather than a place to confront her demons.

Scott Steindorff’s Stone Village Television landed rights following a competitive bidding situation, in a six-figure deal, with Hawke’s Under the Influence Productions then coming aboard.
