It’s almost September and that means Netflix is about to refresh their content, for better or worse. Some of the notable titles leaving include: High Fidelity, Anchorman 2, and The Skeleton Twins. The former Continental Media partners head to Cannes with a new venture that encompasses sales and marketing, led by sales titles Safelight and Sun Belt Express.

Concourse Media comprises sales division Concourse Film Trade and boutique marketing outfit The Industry & Co and is backed by private equity group McG.

Safelight is a drama starring Juno Temple and Evan Peters and has sold to Arc Entertainment for a Us day-and-date theatrical and digital release later this year.

Shreder (pictured at right) and Felts (pictured at left) have sold Us and Latin American rights on the comedy Sun Belt Express starring Tate Donovan and Stephen Lang to MarVista Entertainment.

Further titles for the Cannes market and executive hires are expected to be announced in due course.

Vimeo seems to be developing a niche for exclusive on demand film deals. The most recent download deal was with Spike Lee’s “Da Sweet Blood of Jesus,” and now Vimeo can say the now have legendary rapper Nas’ documentary “Shake the Dust” available on their service. “Shake the Dust” is now available as a 30-day exclusive digital download through Vimeo On Demand. Bond/360 has acquired U.S. distribution rights to "Shake the Dust," a documentary executive produced by rapper Nasir "Nas" Jones and directed by journalist-filmmaker Adam Sjöberg. "Shake the Dust" takes an international look at hip-hop, rap and b-boys, as it follows the disciplines through four countries (Colombia, Cambodia, Uganda and Yemen). All set to an eclectic mix of rap -- some vintage, some Cambodian, some brand new (hot out of the oven from Jones himself) -- the film explores the power, the free expression, the hope, the sense of family and the impetus for social change that comes along with music and movement. "'Shake the Dust's' diverse depictions of breakdancing around the globe encourages the audience to share the exuberant positivity of the many cultures featured in the film who have embraced this traditionally American art form and made it their own," said Bond/360's Marc Schiller. The film won the Panavision Grand Prize award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival earlier in the year and recently scooped the audience award at the Dallas International Film Festival.

Stephen Bradley directed the UK-Ireland co-production and Melanie Gore-Grimes produced. Michael J Hunt served as executive producer. Market screenings are May 18 and 20.

Continental Media’s Afm documentary Shake The Dust has received a fillip with news that hip-hop star Nas is on board as executive producer and will provide original music.

Adam Sjoberg directs the film about rap fans from Columbia, Cambodia, Uganda and Yemen who use the music for social empowerment.

“What these kids are doing around the world reminds me why I fell in love with hip-hop and how important it is as a creative and constructive outlet,” said Nas.

David Jacobson produces with Sjoberg’s Loose Luggage Media in association with Dave Stewart’s Weapons Of Mass Entertainment and Wild Hair Media.

Attorney Matthew Dysart at Sheppard Mullin represents the filmmakers in the financing, production and distrinbution of the project.
