What has happened to this show? Almost every episode turns into a farce! No real gritty police stuff yet, and I doubt the will be much. Every episode turns into absolutely worthless sit com mush! All in all, season six has lost all credibility and bears no resemblance to previous seasons. Did the writers strike mean they started writing their own scripts, if so, stop! Any future seasons must really be better or you will lose every fan you ever had. Bad does no cover it. I doubt really, that I can sit through much more of this drivel. It really is such a shame to see it go down hill so badly. Maybe season six, should be the end.
Well where do you begin??
If you're a fan of the Rookie I'm sure you've cringed over the "mockumentry" style episode But this is episode Trouble in Paradise is a whole new low for the franchise!
From a great start over the first two maybe three seasons the slow decline and the awful story lines have lead to this hot mess of an episode Terrible writing coupled with some of the worst guest actors not to mention trying to palm off the Californian cost as a tropical island If the show runners are looking to kill the title after its thousandth episode they've started well!
I seriously think it's time the Rookie was put out to pasture With the current crop of actors there's not much hope of an upturn for this once fun program.

Well, I don't really know what's happening, but it seems that the initial witers from the show have gone and now The Rookie is written by a 5-year old child. The argument is so easy, so poor, so empty, and so banal, that there is not another possibility. No experimented show writer presents anything like this. And the cameras, my god !!! Besides the critics of the fans of the show, they still do the same stupidity. Don't they understand that it's stupid and nonsense filming that way? Don't they understand that the fans hate it? Maybe when the fans give up to watch the crap they are making they will understand.
ABC has always shown Nathan Fillion love and being a Firefly fan from back in the day, I consider myself a fan if his work, however this show continues to test my devotion...
Firstly, I agree with the previous review that Bailey is an unnecessary character that has zero romantic chemistry with Nolan. Her exiting the show would not change things one bit for the negative.
This episode in particular bothered me. How does a beat cop in LA afford his own home, to pay for a tropical honeymoon, and buy about 10k in surveillance "toys"? Why does the resort owners daughter work as a maid and why is she always wearing a leather jacket? What world would allow two detectives to take off to the tropics to play "backup"? In reality, they'd know that would never be allowed and it'd be much more efficient to let the local cops handle things, but for some reason it took less time for two cops to fly down from LA than for the locals to come to the island?
I've come to like Aaron after he replaced Jackson, but the entire mood of the show has become so interested in not offending anyone's sensitive feelings that it's resulted in successfully creating a weekly hour of absolute garbage. Fillion is no rookie anymore, wrap it up and move on to your next ABC career!!

Love the rookie - but there is zero chemistry between Bailey and Nolan. So tired of it. All the other characters are great (even Celina is growing on me but she is weak, too). Help this show! Bring back the blond doctor for Nolan. The banter between the cast is enjoyable. I don't mind the break in pace between intense crime scenes and fun. However, Bailey's acting skills are so poor. She can't even fake a yawn. Sorry Bailey. You are cute - but that's it.
The connection between Lucy and Tim is so fun to watch. Tim is a fantastic actor and so is Lucy. Love this connection. Please keep this going!

- TriviaThe bodega, Bob's Food Market, that Tim and Celina pull up to at about 00:10:40 and encounter a man with amnesia is the same filming location used for Toretto's Market & Cafe in The Fast and the Furious (2001) movie.
- GoofsNo matter how they paid for it, Lopez & Harper would never be given permission to stop what ever they're doing and fly to a different country (they never specify what country John and Bailey are in) and participate in an unofficial investigation that has nothing to do with any cases in Los Angeles.
