Most people just want to see a really good storyline and they don't pay attention to the little things, like the brand and style even of the balls or even the race length needs to be authentic, the length of the races were to 9 or 11 which is correct, and why they use technical advisors, the training teqniques themselves I teach "some" of the ones used. The workbooks about the patterns, even the montage itself he taught Mina is a good one to keep in your head and we all have something like that we say to ourselves at big tournaments that can be overwhelming, as this got bad reviews below I'm willing to bet there not real pool players.. And we need a good pool movie to give billiards another jump start like Color of Money did back in the 80s, however there was little actual shooting in color of money just a few shots here and there.. pool hall junkies had a great plot however a lot of it were just stereotypical pool player speak and they haven't gambled like that for 50 or so years however good plot by Callahan.. 9 ball the movie was a trainwreck because it has zero shooting in it and Jennifer is not an actress "although not bad for a first role" however they had the cheapest characters ever, they were terrible actors the bad guy with those ridiculous teeth? Worst pool movie everrr. Where Heartbreak has an authentic set up for how a manager runs his player, and also the actress playing Mina could actually shoot pretty well with a fairly good stroke and they did more shooting which was good..
Why they used Ewa Lawrence is beyond me she's been washed up for 20+ years or so, she does the occasional exhibition match for promo'd by the APA. Heck I know a 13 year old girl out of Griffs in Vegas that will destroy Ewa like yesterdays news lol.. yikes.. I mean at least they had Jeanette and Allison do cameos in 9 ball..
Now the war story part of Heartbreak was just a terrible
Good a tingsubject to mix with this story, and I feel that's what ruined it for the big screen. The drunken war vet thing had just no reason to be in this movie yekkk..
Good acting, Authentic pool movie, next time lose the war vet part .

All I can say is that this is one of the most uninspired movies I have ever had the displeasure of watching. It is criminally boring in its execution, it has zero interesting shots or lines, and the finale is as predictable and bland as you would expect. Don't waste your time with this nonsense.

A emotionally powerful story of redemption. The acting prowess of the cast creates numerous authentic moments for the viewer to experience and share. Unfortunately, not a blockbuster budget was available. Even still, technicals and direction results is a sum greater than the parts. Only real disappointment was the length being just over 90 minutes. The story and relationships could have benefited from more resolution with a 2-3 hour final product.
