Director/Writer Nick Orazietti got the idea for the film from visiting Bates Motel haunted attraction in Glen Mills, Pa as a child. He would be lucky enough to shoot at that exact haunted attraction for this film so many years later.
Because of the Bates Motel haunted attraction being open during the Halloween season, all the hayride scenes had to be shot after the attraction closed in late November. It happened to be a very cold November creating the actors breath to be seen and also shivering in some night hayride scenes.
The film was written while writers Nick Orazietti and Brian Dunn were living in Los Angeles who would video chat with writer Jeremy Walter back in Philadelphia.
Writers Nick Orazietti and Brian Dunn met most of the actors for the film while living in Los Angeles, who all flew out to work on the film back in Pennsylvania later that same year.
Actress Maryam Cne was not originally cast for the role of Olivia. She sat in for the table read and wowed the writers with her performance so much that they gave her the part.
