Cleveland was the epicenter of the foreclosure crisis that led to The Great Recession. Vourlis does a great job of focusing in on Cleveland and some of the notorious characters involved in this crisis-but also looks at the larger picture on Wall Street and the banking industry that allowed this to happen. He focuses in on Blaine Murphy, his involvement with numerous rental properties, and the fraud that led to his conviction and imprisonment. Amazingly, as part of the condition of his release, he was required to come back to Slavic Village and work in that neighborhood where he gained a degree of redemption. This is a complex story but worth your time if you want to understand how this crisis came about and the devastation it caused in city's like Cleveland.
