This movie has no relation to "Barfly" and no relation to "Magnolia" This film is tripe. It's a film without a good director or writer. The actors were not half bad but I think with a different director they would be better. The film plays out like a dropped set of legos. The filmmakers try to fool you into artistry with the ramping rewind of different characters but it doesn't work. The filmmakers are trying to hard and achieving nothing.

Gotta say - this movie was far more entertaining than I anticipated.
The main characters are what *some* people might consider unsavory types. I just think their both colorful and realistic. Buskers, bartenders, even weed sellers.
If you've got a thing for Tent Revivals, this isn't the movie for you.
The most interesting aspect to me - aside from the day to day street-level look at life around the Quarter (if you have to ask "Which Quarter?" this might not be the movie for you.) is that it's essentially a day in the life of four different, albeit intertwined, people, and we see the events through each prism.
Another interesting point for me is that it came out within a couple of years of a film called The Power of Few, which is set in roughly the same area - the Quarter and the Marigny - and also shows us several people's lenses on a day's events.
Give it a try.

Was so blown away by this! Captures a day in the neighborhood in such an (appropriately) hilarious and twisted way. Might not translate as well to people who don't live here, but there are enough movies out there that are watered down in attempted mainstream appeal. So funny and so nuanced. A great documentation of a slice of local life in one of the weirdest cities on the planet.

I absolutely loved this movie. The characters are very believable, gritty, unwashed but lovable.
The movie is sad, funny, charming, sweet, and totally watchable. A great look into the underbelly of one of my favorite cities.

I think anyone who's familiar will see this as a love letter to the parts of New Orleans known to locals as the Lower D and the Marigny Triangle. Beautifully told with enough spot on accuracy to make it authentic, but enough humor and reverence so that it's not disrespectful. I'm so happy I ran across this, and can't believe I hadn't sooner! I will tell everyone I know about it starting now.
Beautifully put together & shot, this indie film is a great example of indie films at their best. Entire ensemble cast delivers intensely realized performances that are great fun; every actor is intriguing & engaging. Completely believable.
Kudos go to director-writer-producer Randy Mack for this entertaining & compelling piece of art. Highly recommended -- great fun.

A great little snapshot of a group of barfly's lives. Kinda dark, kinda sad, kinda funny at times. I really enjoyed the fact that there are slight variations when we see overlaps from different people's stories, it really makes it feel like a perspective thing.
Being low budget there's a little bit of jankiness, mostly some of the smaller parts seem a bit stiff and some of the pacing seems a tad off, but in general the direction really suits the story.
I'd definitely recommend this film for people who like stuff that's a tad different and who like seeing a bit of slice of life from the pov of street performers, bar staff and drug dealers.
