This isn't to hate on the movie. Truly. Though the low star rating might indicate otherwise, this review is just to provide some feedback, not to be rude.
The young actresses have a lot of potential, especially the actress who played Arizona. I'm assuming a family member taught the girls how to act, but I fully believe they can shine if they take more acting classes taught by people outside the family.
I can tell that the humor in this film is a reflection of the humor of the family who worked on this film (which isn't for me, but I can respect the addition). I can see they put effort into it!
The camerawork was a bit shaky, which made the film feel like it was of lesser quality. The lighting in darker scenes wasn't too great either. A lot of scenes just go on for way too long, there are two different dancing scenes that feel like they go on for just a little bit too long. The random record scratch sound effects and techno music jumpscares felt very out of place, and, again, lowered the quality of the film. Even the Christmas songs were techno and trap sounding.
I can tell a lot of effort was put in. And i can see so much potential. It just needs a bit more work and tuning.

Of course I had never heard about this 2024 movie titled "Parents for Christmas". But since I was sitting through a Christmas movie marathon here in December, I opted to add this movie from director Ashley Hays Wright to the list of movies to watch.
Writers Ashley Hays Wright and David Owen Wright put together a script that utterly failed to entertain me. And it was also a script and storyline that utterly failed to capture the spirit of Christmas. So it was quite a struggle to sit through this dumpster fire of a movie.
The acting performances in the movie were rather wooden and soulless. You're not in for an evening of Shakespearian theater, should you opt to sit down and watch "Parents for Christmas". Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list.
This movie was a horrible excuse for a Christmas movie, and it was physically painful to sit through. It was quite far from what you get with the archetypical Hallmark movie, I will say that much.
Needless to say that I am never returning to watch "Parents for Christmas" a second time. And this most certainly is not a movie that I would recommend you to sit down and watch, and literally waste 76 minutes of your life on. If you have an ounce of interest in Christmassy movies, give this one a wide berth.
My rating of director Ashley Hays Wright's 2024 movie "Parents for Christmas" lands on one out of ten stars.

If you're looking for adult comedy this is more for teens and kids, but as an adult that loves wholesome family films I loved it. Horses, humor and cats really is a great combo. I was glad, I could watch a film with my little one and not hear cursing. It was a very funny film. Many might not like it if they are not used to family films. But great job to Wright Family Films once again. Our family have been following them for sometime now. I would have liked to see more of the animals and more of the interaction between the the adults. I also would love to see more of the cat! To sum it up very good quality film with great acting. This is not a 4 million dollar film, but with it being entertaining it does compete.
