Truly a drama that warms the whole heart and soul. The choice of words is good, not cheesy and not forced. The portion of sadness is also just right so that we who watch it are not made full of sadness but are made warm. The music is also very unified from each sceneworthy. The writing of the characteristics of the characters is really fitting and they share their feelings for each other and still make sense. For much or even almost all of this film the depiction is very, very good, the coloring techniques are very suitable for the content of the story. There is no reason to miss this film, which is just the right length, even though it is 2 hours long, but it is very satisfying. Worth watching!!!
1 Kakak 7 Ponakan is a beautifully crafted family drama that proves Yandy Laurens is a genius in storytelling. The film is a heartfelt exploration of familial bonds, especially resonating with the sandwich generation, earning a solid 9/10 or even a 9.2/10 if you find yourself in their shoes. Its simplicity is its strength-offering a story that's unassuming yet profoundly meaningful.
This warm and emotional film delivers moments that will make you cry deeply while reminding you of the importance of family. However, a minor drawback is the depiction of a character so angelic that it leans towards being unrealistic. Despite this, the film remains a masterpiece that celebrates love, sacrifice, and growth within the chaos of family life.

I had the chance to watch at JAFF yesterday, and honestly, this was one of the most anticipated films. The ticket war was crazy-sold out within minutes!
Okay, it's a bit hard to give a review without spoilers. Here's the thing: the storyline is great, I really liked it. As a drama film, the drama hits just right-not overly cheesy like some other Indonesian dramas. The acting was incredibly impressive, and seeing Chicco here, his performance was amazing. OH, and this movie is super funny, guys! I didn't expect to laugh as much as I did.
This movie is not a movie that forces the audience to cry, or this movie does not sell sadness, but warmth. So if you cry, maybe it's happy tears.
My first impression after leaving the cinema? The film felt so heartwarming and enjoyable to watch. You don't need to overthink it-just go to the theater, sit back, and enjoy a genuinely warm and delightful film.

This film teaches how beautiful family is in our lives. Likewise, no matter how difficult the conditions are Family is the place for us to return to, as well as Moko who had to make sacrifices for his younger siblings where he gave up everything His ambition is to study for a Masters in Melbourne, and Moko continues to struggle to make a living. His younger siblings because he thinks they are a priority, and I conclude that No matter how difficult the conditions are, you cannot live without family. Love for your family, your family is your home. Keep spirit FAMILY WARRIOR. You can live because of them, and family is everything.
"1 Kakak 7 Ponakan" is a movie that is so heartwarming and seems to give a hug to anyone who is struggling for his family, especially to his siblings. After watching the movie, I still sit quietly with my cheeks still wet until the screen turns off. Memories of family seemed to come to mind. So I want to hug each one and say thank you, including to myself.
Yandy Laurens skillfully stirs the audience's emotions. What's interesting is that while watching it makes me laugh, at the same time it makes me sad. It's never too late to feel what the characters are really feeling. Scenes that are sad still have things that make me laugh, but suddenly I immediately shut up and feel sad, and conversely. The laughter and sadness go up and down with the right portion and pacing.
The heart is touched and happy to see how Moko struggles to give up his dreams, to take care of and support his siblings, and their togetherness that looks simple but so meaningful. Not to forget the kindness received from loved ones around him which makes it even more touching. The characters are also diverse and unique. From the loveable ones to the annoying ones.
This film is even more special with scenes without any dialog or only accompanied by the sound of a piano but it makes my chest feel tight, I really get the feel and the message. This is also supported by the way the movie is shot and the performances of the cast. There are also scenes that are short but really memorable, made me laugh even until the audience applauds when watching it.
In addition to the captivating performances of the cast, the shots and details shown add to the warmth of the narrative. There are times when the images are taken at a distance with a rather long duration, capturing moments of warm togetherness in the midst of a difficult struggle. The movie doesn't only look at Moko's point of view, but also that of his siblings. In the end, this movie will make me realize the meaning of family, struggle, and sincere love.
