I absolutely loved *Lick*-the movie had me fangirling from start to finish! As a Passionflix adaptation of Kylie Scott's bestselling romance novel, it exceeded all my expectations and delivered everything I look for in a romantic drama. From the stunning direction to the incredible performances by the lead actors, it captivated me in every imaginable way and reached deep into the world of romance and drama with precision and heart.
The story centers on Evelyn Thomas, a relatable and strong protagonist who wakes up in Las Vegas with a raging hangover and a shocking discovery-she's married to none other than rock star David Ferris. The plot might sound like a classic romance trope, but *Lick* takes this premise and infuses it with so much heart, tension, and depth that it feels entirely fresh and new. It's not just about two people discovering how they feel about each other-it's about trust, vulnerability, and navigating life in the spotlight.
The direction of the film is flawless. Louise Alston, the director, manages to perfectly balance the humor, drama, and passion from the book while also making it cinematic and visually beautiful. Every scene feels intentional, whether it's a charged, intimate moment between Evelyn and David or the chaos of being surrounded by paparazzi and fans. The pacing is spot on, never dragging but also giving us time to really connect with the characters and their emotions.
Of course, the film would be nothing without its incredible cast, and the actors in *Lick* deliver performances that are absolutely top-notch. Brooke Lee as Evelyn is such a joy to watch. She brings a mix of vulnerability, strength, and wit to the character that made her instantly likable and easy to root for. Meanwhile, Travis Burns as David Ferris is nothing short of magnetic. He captures David's charm, arrogance, and hidden sensitivity so well, making him not just a typical rock star but a fully fleshed-out character. Together, their chemistry is off the charts. Every scene they share feels electric, from their playful banter to the more intense, emotional moments that had me on the edge of my seat.
The supporting cast also deserves a shoutout for adding layers to the story and making the world of *Lick* feel rich and complete. The band members, particularly Mal, brought a lot of humor and lighthearted moments that balanced out the more dramatic aspects of the plot. These characters felt real, like people you could easily imagine being part of a famous rock band, with all the quirks and camaraderie that come with it.
One of the things I loved most about the movie was how it explored deeper themes beyond just the romance. Fame and its impact on relationships, the struggle to trust someone when you feel like their world is so different from yours, and the courage it takes to be vulnerable with another person were all explored in meaningful ways. It made the love story between Evelyn and David even more compelling because you could see their growth as individuals as well as a couple.
The production value of *Lick* is also worth mentioning. The soundtrack was perfect, featuring songs that matched the rock-and-roll vibe of the story while also enhancing the emotional beats. The cinematography was stunning, particularly during the scenes in Los Angeles and Vegas, which showcased the glitz and chaos of their world. Every detail, from the costumes to the set design, felt authentic and added to the overall experience.
By the time the credits rolled, I was completely in love with this movie. It gave me all the feels-excitement, heartbreak, laughter, and joy. It's the kind of story that stays with you long after you've finished watching, and I can already tell I'll be revisiting it again and again.
If you're a fan of romance, drama, or even just a sucker for a good love story with a little bit of rock star glamour, *Lick* is an absolute must-watch. Passionflix has done a phenomenal job bringing Kylie Scott's novel to life, and it's clear how much love and care went into making this film. I can't recommend it enough!

I absolutely loved it. I can't stop rewatching. The cast was perfectly chosen and the chemistry is believable and off the charts. The intimate scenes done with impeccable taste. Keeping the overall essence of the book was beautifully rendered, and bringing me back to a world that I have loved for over 10 years was brilliant. The scenes were beautifully shot. The seamless continuation of the story flows so nicely. I think this is a movie for not just the fans of the novel/series but those that enjoy a great romance with some rock n roll thrown in. I can only hope that the next three movies get made. This has made me a Passionflix fan for life.
Can we all celebrate how long we have waited for this? Finally, David and Ev come to life on screen and it was done brilliantly. I was nervous to see the movie adaptation after loving the characters in ink for so long. They had a lot to live up to. I was not disappointed. I didn't feel like there was a lot cut out even. I hate when that is done in a book to movie adaptation. The actors fit the characters in not only their portrayal, but also their appearance. The homes used, clothing worn etc...was all nicely done. You do worry about some of these smutty movies being cheesy and ruining it for us die hard fans. Fortunately, I don't think that was the case here. One grateful fan here!
Lick and the entire Stage Dive series is an all time favorite of mine and I had a little trepidation about casting these beloved characters, so I was really excited when I saw how perfectly cast David, Ev, and Mal were. Kudos to the casting director and the actors for understanding the assignment! Jimmy and Ben are harder to tell at this point, but both have promise (Jimmy, who is a total DB in this first book/movie but gets the best story of all in his book, has mega-fans that will have a LOT to say!) I really, really, really want to see the other 3 books brought to life now that I watched this excellent adaptation. More Stage Dive, please!
Passionflix helped make this book come alive with film adaption and they executed it perfectly.
The casting was perfect, although I was expecting to see Jimmy in more suit type clothing but the rest of them are portrayed as accurate as possible.
They stayed true to the characters and the mannerisms. I think Travis and Brooke did an excellent job as David and Evelyn. I would have loved to see him with long hair though and have him cut it as stated in the book. Would have brought a more dramatic response to certain events.
I reread Lick all the time and i will say, I will now rewatch the movie probably just as much.
Definitely recommend, you will love it especially if you loved the book!
I hope they bring the rest of the series to screen as well!
