The True Beauty animated series is seriously a fun and relatable watch! Jugyeong&#39;s journey of trying to balance her natural self and the version of her she shows to the world with makeup really hits home for anyone who&#39;s struggled with self-esteem. The way she interacts with Suho and Seojun just adds to the drama, and you can&#39;t help but get invested in the love triangle. You&#39;re rooting for all of them at different points! Visually, the animation totally does justice to the webtoon. It&#39;s colorful, expressive, and really brings out the characters&#39; emotions in all the right ways. It&#39;s also super fun to watch the awkward, sweet moments between Jugyeong and the guys, with plenty of laugh-out-loud scenes. While it doesn&#39;t break new ground, True Beauty has the right mix of lighthearted humor and deeper themes of self-confidence and personal growth. Honestly, if you&#39;re into rom-coms with a bit of drama, this is the perfect series to binge. You&#39;ll find yourself totally invested in Jugyeong&#39;s journey and loving every minute!

As for the art, it&#39;s good, but because it&#39;s drawn in an anime style, it doesn&#39;t show the bad features of Fl&#39;s face. As for the voice acting, I found the main female voice quite annoying. After watching episode 1, I felt like I was watching a music video rather than a movie. The content of episode 1 ran very fast. I have watched all versions of this drama from webtoon, movies and anime. I like the webtoon version the most. As for the movie, I feel quite sorry that the movie broke the original but the actors did their job in their roles. In conclusion, I think this is my personal review of this anime that is quite normal, the op music and the ed are okay.

So I want to be clear here, I&#39;ve read the entire webtoon and I&#39;ve seen the entire kdrama as well and this is just the worst adaptation I could have ever imagined. I will say, given the amount of episodes and runtime they probably didn&#39;t have a choice on what they did with this series. The webtoon itself is nearly 250 chapters which is a lot to cover in what... 12, 15 minute episodes. The drama suffered the same ordeal with cramming the entire &quot;adult/time skip arc&quot; into the last two episodes. But this was the most shallow version of this serious in its entirety. The webtoon isn&#39;t like incredible/knock your socks off writing but I think it&#39;s descent for what it was and covers all the characters enough. I think the writing is elementary school level at best. It&#39;s something a middle schooler would read on wattpad. The beginning had potential to follow the plot correctly and actually do something but what really inspired this rating is the last two episodes which decimated the entire thing for me. I&#39;ll go over a quick summary and then delve into the last two episodes. All of this part is about animation only: I also think all the characters are shells of themselves and have no dimension, they aren&#39;t likable and none of their relationships make sense because the depth wasn&#39;t seen in the series. Jugyeong is was bullied for being &quot;ugly&quot;, she teaches herself to wear make up and gives herself a glow upon entering high school and is now treated well by her peers. She gets some friends and then meets Suho who she meets without make up on. He pieces together who she really is behind the make up and then in turn makes her be his chore monkey. Essentially bullying her like how she was in middle school. Along the way she also meets Seojun, Suhos former idol trainee friend who goes to the same school as them. Love triangle things, blah blah.. Eventually Jugyeong snaps at Suho for making her work to hone and crying that she no better than her bullies and this .. apparently makes him fall for her but I guess also helps them get along. We don&#39;t actually see that but you can infer. In terms of Seojun, Jugyeong helps his sister glow up for a concert and he starts to fall for her cause he realizes how kind she is or whatever, it&#39;s really not laid out well shes barely doing anything. These actually do closely follow the webtoon so you&#39;re like &quot;yay wow this has potential!&quot; But that changes soon. What&#39;s a Korean story without a villainess. Intro Sujin, who hates jugyeong form the start cause she of course has unrequited feelings for Suho. Oh by the way, in the webtoon this is covered but Sujin and Suho are childhood friends that&#39;s why he&#39;s nice to her ... but webtoon only secret I guess otherwise you&#39;re like why tf is he friends with this vile woman. Oh and surprise. The reason Sujin is so mean is because shes been abused too! That makes it okay right?? Right??? Sujin fakes a friendship and then tries to set JY up with a known college playboy/r*pist which Suho and Seojun catch onto and stop. This leads to Suho getting injured and then letting Seojun and Suho hashing out their issues which also very quickly is covered without depth. They were trainees together they had a third friend the third friend debuted early, he was bullied, the friend killed himself because of it and seojun blames Suho for not being there. Seojun was taking care of his family or something idk, seems like a double standard huh ... (it works better in the webtoon) All during this JY is competing in a goddess contest which is a thing for some reason at the school. A bunch of pretty girls do challenges to prove they&#39;re.. the most pretty?? That was never established nor is there a prize. JY wins. Sujin wins. JY makes an outfit for a challenge. Loses it IDIOTICALLY AND PATHETICALLY CAUSE shes RUNNING AWAY FROM SUHO WHO SHE FEELS AWK AROUND CAUSE OF HER CRUSH that came out of nowhere for no reason. She drops the outfit and runs off and Sujin finds it steals it. JY loses cause it wasnt original like the one Sujin stole. There&#39;s a literal timestamp that proves it&#39;s jugyeong but apparently that&#39;s not good enough evidence in the eyes of morons. Another plot point. JY middle school bullies catch onto who she is and want to expose her bare face. They show Sujin the truth and then SJ goes to Suho and threatens him into being her fake bf or she&#39;ll show the video ... here&#39;s where I wanted to end my own life watching this. Unbelievable rage the last two episodes. The last part of the goddess competition is to do a live stream and get the most viewers. But prior to this JY is being bullied by everyone cause Suho ignored her and is &quot;with SJ&quot; now. The whole school is calling JY a clingy person for being attached to Suho and whatever. Shes barely been seen with him btw. Also Seojun confesses his feelings in the episode before but then they just brush over that and literally don&#39;t address it aside from JY crying and running away. Seojun does not appear in the last ep at all lol? Back to this, bullying, cyber bullying, every time of bs. All could have been prevented if Suho wasnt a loser but whatever. He&#39;s &quot;protecting&quot; her. Episode ends with JY doing the live stream and everyone dog piling her. And she runs off to the bathroom to cry at her. Also sidebar. The whole purpose of her make up is to make her more confident and it literally was supposed to but for some reason shes a whiny little useless baby for the whole series. Shes not likable at all let alone for two men to like her. Last episode opens with Sujin solidifying her place or so we thought. Oh my god it was all part of an elaborate plan! Her friends (who actually do more for the plot then the main characters) were double agents. They threatened her former bully into confessing on camera. And guess what Suho was in on it all along. He walks into Sujins live stream unplugs the audio and tells her &quot;don&#39;t do this. You&#39;re not ruining JY. Just yourself!&quot; Then walks out as if he did anything. SJ runs to confront JY who&#39;s tied up in the bathroom for no reason without make up and tells her she hates her and shes pathetic and that shes gonna destroy her and Suho. Guess what it was all caught on camera. Her friends play the video and oh wow Sujin was evil?? Who would have thought. She triples down and is like &quot;you don&#39;t believe that I could ever be mean right!?&quot; Wrong the audience is a bunch of brainless morons who only believe what they see! Cue her exit. I guess. Then JY walks past a window with her bare face and is like &quot;this could have been prevented if I were braver or something&quot; honestly I skipped forward cause I knew it would be mediocre. It ends with her running and jumping into Suhos arms. Like thats it. No lesson learned. A completely unused plot line of Seojun, who by the way does date her first.... That&#39;s what this didn&#39;t include. Suho literally abandoned her for like 2 years after high school. But I digress. The writing is so asinine and unbelievably bad. I didn&#39;t have high hopes but the results were abysmal. Objectively if I were to come across this without the context of the webtoon I&#39;d feel the same. It was just so disjointed and tried to bring in elements that it would do nothing with. The ending was rushed and instead of writing to assume you&#39;d get another season it was written to assume it needed to end. I think what disappointed me the most was that it could have done well and been adapted correctly cause it started out that way. Overall I really am so sad that it turned out so poorly.
