A not so fairly successful fifth episode overall, even if ok both visually and in terms of its pacing. The plot itself isn't very compelling, to be honest, and its treatment singularly lacks the humor associated with the traditional Addams Family universe. And Jenna Ortega is still as undimensional in her performance. What was enjoyable in the very first episode becomes increasingly tiresome in the fifth...
The episode scatters into digressions even less interesting than the main plot. After three very disappointing first episodes (especially the third), the fourth and final one before the broadcast hiatus marked a major improvement and finally promised something exciting for the future. Alas, that's not the case at all here.
This series is becoming more and more like a children's series.

Very poorly done. What happened ? It was going so well and suddenly lost any sense. Either writers screwed up, or director , all both. Actors tried there best , but the plot and dynamics became atrocious. Too many new characters , too many plot twists , they tried to mimic Lary David and Seinfeld culmination, but it's a different genre.

- TriviaThe writing on Wednesday's shirt is a piece of "The Pit and The Pendulum", by former Nevermore student Edgar Allan Poe. It says: "I saw clearly the doom which had been prepared for me, and congratulated myself upon the timely accident by which I had escaped. Another step before my fall, and the world had seen me no more. And the death just avoided, was of that very character which I had regarded as fabulous and frivolous in the tales respecting the Inquisition. To the victims of its tyranny, there was the choice of death with its direst physical agonies, or death with its most hideous moral horrors. I had been reserved for the latter. By long suffering my nerves had been unstrung, until I trembled at the sound of my own voice, and had become in every respect a fitting subject for the species of torture which awaited me."
- GoofsWeems says to Wednesday, "and the coup de gras, freeing Tyler Galpin". 'Coup de gras' is a common mispronunciation of 'coup de grâce' Gras is pronounced without the 's' sound. Grâce is pronounced like 'grass'. Coup de gras translates as 'blow of fat' while coup de grâce translates as 'blow of mercy' often paraphrased as 'killing blow'.
