I just watched The Weeknd's music video for "Dancing in the Flames" and I have to say, the song itself is a total banger - it hits hard and Abel's vocals are as soulful as ever. But, visually, the video left me feeling slightly underwhelmed. Despite being shot on the iPhone 16 Pro, which I think is a cool concept, the cinematography felt a bit too simplistic for my taste.
I mean, don't get me wrong, the video looks good - the flames, the dark colors, the whole aesthetic is on point. But, it's just so... straightforward. I didn't feel like I was watching a music video, I felt like I was watching a series of nicely shot iPhone photos strung together. And, maybe that's the point? Maybe The Weeknd wanted to keep it simple and let the song speak for itself.
Overall, I'm impressed with "Dancing in the Flames" music video. The song is a banger, the video is gorgeous, and The Weeknd's talent shines brighter than ever. If this is what we can expect from his future projects, I'm all in.
