A dramatic look into the lives of four characters as they collide into each other

Let me preface this review by saying I am absolutely no movie-critic and I do not have any credentials to seriously rate this movie, however based on past movie-going experiences and some serious love of the dramatic here is my opinion:

I thought the movie was chalk-full of amazing cinematography. It could have been the fact that I live close to the film's location, and have seen some of the scenery before, but the shots were just gorgeous. Also, the location itself fit with the theme and feel of the movie quite well.

The actors were good. Judging the movie for what it is: a short film turned feature film with a slew of actors cast out of a small pool in Wisconsin, it was great. There was a little bit of overacting from a few of them, but in all honesty the overacting fit with the theme.

Loved, loved, loved the cameos by the director and producer in the film - thought they were done very tastefully.

The overarching theme of lives colliding into one another to change a few hard-knock lifestyles into manageable seemed to work very well. It was relate-able and heart wrenching. I cared for those characters, and in the end isn't that the point?

A fantastic feature film by new-ish producer Kyle Downs and director Michael Bachochin. Very impressive! Keep them coming!

    Strong Debut for KE

Not really having expectations either way, I was pleasantly surprised with the film, God Forgive Us. For a directorial debut on a tight budget, the film accomplishes a connection to the characters, great cinematography and the belief that even when all hope feels lost, it's never truly gone.

The movie is certainly not without it's imperfections. There are the occasional lines that could benefit from some more polished writing and not every scene showcases the highest quality of acting. That being said, God Forgive Us displays the reality of loss, grief and broken families without trying too hard.

I think the easiest way to sum of God Forgive us is that Mr. Bachochin and Kingdom Entertainment were able to do a lot with a little. For those who like to support up-and- coming independent film crews, God Forgive Us is worth the price of admission.

A great movie that is a real eye opener

I saw the premiere for this movie and I'm really glad I went. The movie was phenomenal for Michael and Kyle's first feature length film. I'm no expert movie critic, but there were a few parts that didn't really interest me or seemed to bland but that was only a FEW times. If you're an emotional person, prepare for this movie to be a tear jerker. I cried at several parts because a lot of my good friends are struggling with the same thing and the movie gave me a better understanding of what they went through or are going through in our first world society. A good movie will engage you but a great movie will hit home and that's exactly what Michael and Kyle did.

STOP getting your friends and family to leave phony ratings and reviews

This is becoming a sad and predictable trend with these new alleged indie "filmmakers". Getting their friends, and even members of their own cast and crew leaving overly positive reviews/ratings on work that clearly doesn't warrant it. One of my good friends was originally cast in this when it was a short. My friend was then informed that one of the producer's dad was going to double the budget (from $10,000 to $20,000) and make it a feature. LOL, of course that $350,000 alleged budget is obviously another farce by production. Another disturbing trend among these wannabe filmmakers, they put bogus numbers on IMDb, have friends (and in this case even cast and crew members) leave overly positive reviews. After reading the feature script, my friend passed on the film immediately.

On to the film itself, my friend and I were able to get a screener of this film. Needless to say, my friend was quite ecstatic and relieved to have passed on this "opportunity". I've personally been a huge indie film buff for many years. My friend and I agreed that the only honest and redeemable quality of this film was the very apt title. "God Forgive Us" - Unfortunately for them, I don't even think "God" can "forgive" this mess. The story was predictable and forced, the writer tried too hard to be dark but failed to add the necessary substance to carry this vision through. It honestly made me think that if the Goth Kids from South Park made a film, this is what it would look like. - The world is so dark, so empty, the loss is palpable, I hate my white suburban parents, my daddy doesn't love me, let's go hang out at Denny's for 6 hours and order nothing but coffee and whine about how messed up the world is - blah, blah, blah, blah.

The performances were uneven, which is a clear indicator that the director was not very strong. Some of the cast had some true bright spots in a few of the scenes, but those moments were inconsistent at best, which usually means the talent was there and the director simply dropped the ball. You could also tell that some of the smaller roles were played by people that were not actors. Another mistake that inexperienced filmmakers tend to make. They figure that if it's a small role, we won't notice. We notice, it actually sticks out like a sore thumb.

The cinematography was clearly the best part of this film. Some of the shots were lit poorly, even given the subject matter and some of the shots seemed out of place for the overall tone of the film. However, it seems those issues were the result of an inexperienced director trying too hard to be artsy or edgy. The sound was average, clearly some issues on that front, but that is not unusual for a $20,000 micro budget indie.

Overall, this is a poorly executed film regardless of how many friends and family they get to write bogus reviews of how amazing it is. Perhaps these "filmmakers" would benefit from actually going to film school instead of wasting their parent's money and creating fake buzz for work that would better serve everyone involved if it was not seen.

    Ten Stars

God Forgive Us is a beautifully done, real work of art. With this being Michael and Kyle (and Kingdom Entertainment's) first full feature film debut, it's pretty impressive. The two collaborated and showed real skills for the industry. The story line is perfect for a rainy day, cuddled up on the couch and wanting to watch an intense tear jerker (most will probably cry or at the very least, tear up). The camera work, lighting, and make-up worked phenomenally well together to create a sad, cold and heart wrenching environment which really sucks you into the movie. Having worked on the set every day of shooting, I wasn't sure if I would be able to get into the movie and believe the characters. But, The acting from Lindsay, James, and Matthew is wonderful and thoroughly convincing. Definitely a must see!!
