An unusual family-Rale, Mare, and two kids-moves into their first shared apartment. Along with them come their differences, hopes, ambitions, and, of course, problems. The initial euphoria of their new life adventure is disrupted by Rale's mother's presence and a mysterious noise in the middle of the night.

Caught up in teenage excitement over a costume party, Lea makes a big mistake. Meanwhile, Rale and his best friend Zare organize a surprise party for Mare, which is actually a house-warming celebration. Will the uninvited police officers who crash the party solve the case of the missing money-or the mystery of the nightly noises?

The family learns that Lea has a crush on a boy named David. They also discover that Luka is dealing with a problem at school, but he refuses to talk about it. Meanwhile, Mare deepens her friendship with their neighbor Sanja, who happens to be Zare's crush.

Mare's father, Jugoslav, a retired military officer, comes over for lunch. It turns out that the entire family, including Rale's mother Brana, has a unique relationship with him since he enjoys "strict discipline." However, everyone willingly accepts his "training"-and soon, we find out why.

Luka faces the first signs of puberty, for which he is completely unprepared, sending him into deep despair. Meanwhile, Lea's first kiss leads to an unexpected consequence-neighbor Sanja falling from the window. Mare's friend Daca, a psychologist, manages to unlock Luka's emotional barriers.
