Quisling is in prison. Maria is living in hiding in an apartment in Frogner. Pastor Peder Olsen is trying to make Quisling acknowledge his wrongdoings.
The verdict is passed. Maria battles against the Norwegian state, trying to secure a pardon for Quisling. Peder attempts to make Quisling place his trust in God.
