Kingdom Come Deliverance began with multiple issues and mistakes that almost made the game unplayable, but what about now? The game has had numerous updates and fixes and finally, we have gotten the game we truly wanted.
First of all, the game does an excellent job in teaching you about the time, why? Because they hired a historian! Yes, this game is focused on history, no fables, no dragons, no heroes. Just a plain blacksmith boy and a story of revenge. The history in this game is amazing, everything from as little as buckets and hay to castles, moats and landscapes, everything looks as it would have in the time period. Which is for those who do not know, the Hungarian Holy Emperor period aka the 14th century.
We then appear in the most beautiful, stunning graphically detailed world I have seen for quite some time. The graphics rival that of Unreal Engine and show us the potential of the CryEngine when it is fully revamped. The only downside to the beauty is that it is just there for show, no bandit attacks or hardly any and the world just seems empty.
We do some errands for the blacksmith, Henry's father, and then get treated to the game's combat mechanics. Now, this is not for everyone as it is a "You either love it or you hate it" scenario. The combat is very realistic with strikes feeling like they have depth but it is sometimes considered jittery and just awkward at times. However it is possibly the best combat I've seen in a medieval game. All other skills work very well with Pickpocketing being too easy though and Lockpicking being harder than marrying a dragon. Seriously,if you like lockpicking, you won't after you have played this.
The only time the game fails disastrously is the glitches and bugs which have unfortunately been fixed but sometimes still remain. I ran into one when playing in the early hours that removed Henry's model from the game and so I could not play and had to restart the entire game. These kind of glitches are rare but when they happen, they can destroy your game and leave you annoyed. The best tip I can give people is to just try and be as normal as possible, don't jump on walls, leave when you aren't supposed to etc because the game just cannot handle it.
So to conclude, Kingdom Come Deliverance is a stunningly beautiful, historic, fun game but the glitches are unrelenting. Avoid them and you'll be fine.
