This was not good.
Bad script. Lousy acting and a meaningless story.
Depressing movie.

Started out well with a well worn but underused idea but it became confused and didnt really know what it wanted to be.
Acting was patchy and it had a really promising idea but it was all just too muddled as though it was being written by 3 different people who hadnt read the previous persons script.
The end felt contrived and done a 100 times before and it was a bit of a disappointment to be honest. Worth a rainy Sunday afternoon if you have seen all the Columbo repeats and there isnt anything else on but it isnt what it wants to be!

THE GOOD - This is so stylishly-filmed it's unbelievable. The wild camera techniques - quick flashes, sudden changes from color to devil red, distorted sound bytes, shakey camera shots, wild colors and symbolic images, distorted sound bytes - are all fascinating to watch. Then there's the crazy story, which ranges from really good to really bad The two leads, "Rev Jones and Rebecca" are kinda co-dependent on one another. He likes his drugs, and she likes her style and shopping habits. He struggles keeping the cash flow going for his drug addiction and her Gucci purses, and some damn boots she mentions a thousand times.
THE BAD NEWS - The drug use in this movie is OVER THE TOP. WOW. The actor who plays Rev. Jones either did a lot of cocaine or endured the pain of snorting a lot of baking soda. Painful to watch sometimes. You can just see it in his face. Then there is the performance of Rebecca, she struggled to nail the character. The Preacher carried the movie.

I have just wasted two hours of my life, don't make the same mistake. From the awful acting to the utterly pointless scenes, I am dumbfounded at how this movie has any good reviews.
The scenes were so odd and some characters so OTT you expected something to happen out of the ordinary.....it never did! This was pretty much the entire length of the film. The acting was at times embarrassing to watch, from most of the characters.
It's been a long time since I have sat through such a bad movie, shame really as the story-line had potential.

I don't normally write reviews, but i was tricked into watching this by the fake ratings on this one. Terrible terrible film, acting is terrible, script is worse and there are so many pointless scenes aka bell ringing man! Lots of reuse of actors as extras...which is quite amusing.Production is also terrible, filming is a joke, there is nothing good about this film other than the "hot" "latino" wife...loco!!
The only redeeming thing is my son and I will have many a nights laughing over the absolutely shocking film this was...worse than the room, maybe Norman Gregory Mcguire needs to take some tips from Tommy Wiseau.

One of the worst films I have ever seen. The actors can't act, the script must have been the idea of a teenager high on coke who have never written anything before but have seen a few films with a similar plot. There were visual effects that reminded me of some of the Indian serials which I would consider to be worse than porn artistically speaking. Such a waste of time and energy.

Not the worst film I've seen but pretty bad nonetheless. Poor acting for the most part and the story is just desperately lost. A coke sniffing bad boy who fuels his habit by playing preacher along Route 66, accompanied by his pretty soon to be wife. I could add spoilers here and it would probably make no difference. There are "B" movies, and then there is the category below that, which is where this would fit. Hopelessly lost script and direction.
"The Lucky Man" can be compared to Malick's '73 masterpiece "The Badlands" in several ways. It's a damn good road show, and the killings have a purose.
This is a film that just grows darker until the very end. It never gets dull. I don't know how realistic the ending is, but it does close out the movie. I do see a sequal.

It's made on a shoe string budget, 1M according to IMDb, has a depressing beginning and ending, a lot of self inflicted distruction, and drug abuse. Can you stomoch that? If so, you might like it. If not, don't waste your time.

This film is just terrible.
It gets a 7+ rating because it has fake reviews. IMBD is really losing credibility lately allowing this to happen with so many movies.
The movie looks like it was filmed on a SD card and made for three cents
There is no real direction. It's amateurish. As is the writing and the acting.
It's filled with untalented clowns who cant act out of a paper bag.
The only good thing I can say is that it wasn't two hours long.

I am currently the third reviewer for this movie.
One reviewer reviews by only asking an eleven word question - lol!
The other reviewer obviously didn't even watch the movie, because it has *nothing to do with religious movies per se*! It isn't about "God is good", or religious sects, you faker!
This movie is about a couple of *con artists fleecing religious people*, financing their drug addiction and life living moment to moment, until a sci fi/fantasy factor is introduced, which makes their life worse than ever.
Very intriguing, and a lot better than too many multi-million dollar budgeted garbage movies Hollywood spews out.

I will go see a good Indy Film over the Hollywood Blockbusters every day of the week. The Filmmaker told a great story (original) and carried it all the way to a great ending. Having hot chicks in the movie is never a bad thing either. Two thumbs up!

I can see how the religious folks might cringe a little to see a preacher scamming church people, doing drugs, and swearing like a sailor. With that said, I like road movies and this delivered. The story was so-so but apealed enough for me to stay through the credit roll.

Can there be any justification whatsoever for making such a movie ?!?!?!?
Don't bother with this religious piece of trash. If you make it all the way to the end of the movie then you're probably both blind and deaf. The special effects are extremely far from being anything special.
The story is thin, the acting is terrible, and the camera work and directing is reminiscent of a high-schooler's first attempt at movie making.

Dont watch it.. Waste of time.
Third party movie based page didn't update their IMDB rating,
so i watched it expecting its IMDB rating was genuinely rated (7.1 was posted in the page)
Watched it for exactly 32 minutes 20 sec (at the worst scene)... I cant stand it anymore. From the start, i have so much doubt already (acting and plot part). i know i'm not suppose to judge it so quickly but after 32 minutes, I check the rating back here and found out i was tricked by the outdated rating provide by the third party page..
p/s If its not because of the fake rating. This movie will not even hit 3.0 rate.

I took the ride with "The Lucky Man". It was a hell of a ride. The movie travels you through New Mexico's desert managing to hit all the Route 66 towns along the way. I love Route 66 BTW. The preacher is able to scam his way into several cash flows to get to the next town. His unrelenting need for cocaine is mind blowing (literally). Grab a bottle of vodka and enjoy the ride.

I have always been a Bonnie & Clyde fan so when I saw this movie... I said what the heck, I will give it a try. I remember a young Jesse James from "Pearl Harbor" and "Blow". Glad to see he is transitioning from a kid actor to an adult.
Over all the film had a good flow. There was never a dull moment. The filmmaker's kind of lost me with some of the flash backs. But, I can see what they were trying to achieve.
All I can say, is Jesse James snorts a lot of drugs in this film. So, keep the kiddos out of the room with this one.
Glad to find some good Indy's out there. Keep up the good work.

Well, this utter crap should be thrown in sink, right after first watch of someone with brain.
What we have: utterly idiotic plot, about some junkie who needs money for it.
Absolutely not realistic girlfriend, who wants marriage, kids, normal life. With who ? In reality, she would leave him in 15-th minute of movie. Then, those killings without any sense at the end. Worst end possible.
If this was intended as some Christian message, then I must say that: no, such people will be not selected by God for something higher after life. They will go straight in Hell. Absolute lack of logic - he swapped his life for life of victims. Can it turn time back ? All aftermath what is caused ? If this would be some time travel movie, that could be tolerable. But this was not it, despite classified as sci-fi here. Total wrong. Just sick brain made crap. I'm sure, some junkies felt good watching it.
Ratings: Jesse James 4
Mariana P. Vicente: acting 3 , look: 9
Norman G. McGuire: script: -10000000000000000000000 , directing: 2
For the end, Latina chick seemed as not pure Latina :-) Life is mostly not about luck. It's about self improvement. In this crap, they did all in wrong direction.

What do you call "Badlands", "Thelma and Louise", and "Machine Gun Preacher" all combined together? "The Lucky Man". I think the actress, Mariana Vicente, needs some better training or the director needs to push her harder. Jesse James, an old pro, delivered.

I've watched Jesse James mature over the years from his roles in Amityville Horror, Blow, and Pearl Harbor. The grown up version of James is making his mark. Liking what I see. I enjoyed his part on "The Good Doctor" Season 1. Good for you Mr. James.

This movie is like homemade, well it is homemade for 1million, film really have no idea, no real plot, no logic, nothing, zero, black matter
First time writing a review (I think).
The movie is not even worth mentioning... only writing because I'm a bit mad for not stopping this movie after the first 10-15 minutes. I guess I got misled by few critic (not user) reviews.
One of the reviewers is right: this is a high-school project at best.
