Much to Jyouji Ema's confusion, one month after Ema made a split-second decision at his all-boys' school field day, his classmate Miyoshi Hayashi is still acting bizarrely around him.
Hayashi meets Megumi, a shy and thoughtful bookworm, and the two bond over their shared hobby of reading. Later, Komatsu, an energetic middle school boy, begs Hayashi to be the model for his next painting.
