The movie begins with a bang and keeps you hooked from the very first frame. The first half is incredibly fast-paced and gripping, making it hard to look away even for a moment. The storytelling is tight and efficient, with no room for unnecessary distractions. Every scene feels purposeful and adds value to the narrative, a rare feat in cinema these days.
One of the highlights of the film is Swapnil Joshi's performance. He portrays a character that is refreshingly different from his previous roles, showcasing his versatility as an actor. It's a treat to watch him sink his teeth into this role, bringing depth, nuance, and a sense of relatability to his character. His performance alone is worth the price of admission, but what makes this movie truly stand out is how every actor in the ensemble cast delivers their best. Each performance feels genuine, and the chemistry between the characters is palpable.
The screenplay is peppered with sharp, witty one-liners that land perfectly. These moments of humor are seamlessly woven into the narrative, never feeling forced or out of place. They provide the perfect balance to the movie's intense and emotionally charged scenes. It's a testament to the writers' skill that they manage to strike this balance so effortlessly.
What's particularly commendable about this film is how it showcases the remarkable progress Marathi cinema has made in recent years. Marathi filmmakers have carved out a unique niche for themselves, consistently delivering quality content that competes with mainstream cinema. Despite operating on a smaller budget, this film doesn't compromise on its production values or storytelling. The cinematography is crisp and visually appealing, the editing is sharp, and the direction is confident and assured. It's clear that every frame has been crafted with care and attention to detail.
One of the bold and refreshing choices the filmmakers made is the absence of songs. In an industry where songs often feel obligatory, their decision to forego them in favor of keeping the focus on the story speaks volumes about their maturity and confidence in their craft. It's a move that pays off beautifully, ensuring that the audience remains fully engrossed in the narrative without any interruptions.
This film is a shining example of how great storytelling, strong performances, and smart direction can overcome budget constraints to deliver a memorable movie. Swapnil Joshi and the rest of the cast bring their A-game, and the absence of songs is a bold and commendable choice that keeps the focus squarely on the narrative. Marathi cinema continues to prove that it can hold its own against bigger industries, and this movie is yet another feather in its cap.

Very boring and has many missing links.
The entire movie has many plot holes which are not satisfied.
Every actor in the movie has on purpose performed below the mediocre bar.
Over all this movie is a snooze fest and extremely boring.
The end is very predictable and obviously.

Marathi film Review: Jilabi screening in cinemas halls near you!!
A rare diversion from the usual rona dhona & preachy Marathi films seen nowdays , Jilabi is a slickly directed mystery crime thriller drama starring Swapnil Joshi, Prasad Oak and Shivani Surve.
A corrupt police officer ACP Vijay Karmarkar (Swapnil Joshi) is given the charge of investigating the murder of Ashutosh (Abhijit Dulgach), the son-in-law of a rich business family - the Subhedar's. As Vijay interrogates Saurav Subhedar (Prasad Oak), his wife, Janhavi (Shivani Surve), his twin brother, Gaurav Subhedar (Prasad Oak again), and their manager , Patil (Ganesh Yadav) the case becomes as convoluted as the proverbial Jilabi and hence the name .
As the body count starts rising , it is up to Vijay to keep his wits intact , get over a personal tragedy and bring the perps to justice!!
Right from the first frame, the film is incredibly fast-paced and gripping, making it hard to look away even for a moment. The storytelling is tight and efficient, with no room for unnecessary distractions. Every scene feels purposeful and adds value to the narrative, a rare feat in Marathi cinema these days.
Swapnil Joshi as a badass cop looks awesome, a refreshing change from the characters that he normally essays. Prasad Oak & Shivani Surve too have played their parts well.
On the flip side there are some bad actors too who pull the film down a bit. However leaving those small flaws aside, the film is definitely worth a dekho.
Going with 3 stars out of 5 for this one .. and adding an additional 0.5 star to the makers for attempting to do something different!!
