Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band: Born in the U.S.A. Live (2014)
**** (out of 4)
This sixty-six minute concert is being included with Springsteen's latest album "High Hopes" when you buy it from Amazon. The concert was professionally filmed at London's Olympic Park on June 30, 2012 during the Wrecking Ball tour and as the title pretty much says, it includes the complete "Born in the U.S.A." album. I often listen to the E Street radio station when people talk about their favorite albums and so on and this one rarely gets mentioned. It seems a lot of fans don't like it because of how popular it was but I've never really understood this mindset and especially because so many artist's fans think that if something's popular it's not "worthy" of something more. Well, I've always thought this was a terrific, rocking and loud album with some wonderful songs so I thought this concert footage of the songs was terrific. This includes the entire set obviously and thankfully it was shot by professionals so the video and audio quality is excellent and the entire thing was perfectly filmed. The music is obviously great as Springsteen and the E Street Band are in terrific form and bouncing and playing off one another perfectly. There are many highlights but some of the best moments come during "Darlington County" when Bruce goes and sits with the crowd for a good time. "Working on the Highway" starts off with a terrific acoustic sound before switching over to rock and then there's great versions of "Bobby Jean," "I'm Going' Down" and "Dancing in the Dark" where Bruce has a few guests on stage. Fans of SLEEPAWAY CAMP will be happy to see Bruce's sister Pamela on stage. BORN IN THE U.S.A. LIVE might have been given away as a gift but it's certainly a wonderful little concert.
