Rosie Perez has been named a new co-host of The View, joining Republican political analyst Nicolle Wallace, Whoopi Goldberg, and Rosie O’Donnell for the upcoming new season beginning Sept. 15.

Two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest (“Bullets Over Broadway”) and Oscar-nominated actress Rosie Perez (“Fearless”) will join David Oyelowo (“Selma”) in the upcoming indie “Five Nights in Maine,” which will co-star Teyonah Parris (“Mad Men”), Tony Award nominee Stephen Henderson (“The Newsroom”) and Hani Furstenberg (“The Loneliest Planet”). Craig Zisk has stepped in to direct AMC drama pilot Knifeman after Brian Percival pulled out last week for personal reasons. I hear Zisk is already in London working in the pilot. Based on Wendy Moore’s John Hunter biography The Knife Man: Blood, Body Snatching And The Birth Of Modern Surgery, Knifeman centers on a charming, arrogant surgeon who robs graves and harvests organs in 18th century London. Rolin Jones wrote the pilot, which he developed with Ron Fitzgerald; both exec produce. Zisk, repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment and attorney Jared Levine, directed two broadcast comedy pilots this season, ABC’s An American Education and NBC’s Two to Go. He also was a co-executive producer/director on Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Zisk’s drama credits include FX’s American Horror Story and Nip/Tuck.

Jack Whitehall has said that the Us remake of Bad Education is not "a million miles away" from the original.

The actor and comic will star in An American Education for ABC, and told Digital Spy that the script by Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory had not "butchered" the BBC show.

"It is a challenge to adapt it and make it work for that audience, but hopefully it stepped up to the plate," he said.

Whitehall added that he is "very conscious of trying not to make the same mistakes" as previous UK-to-us remakes.

"There are some shows that are very good over here [in the UK] and have gone over there and not worked," he acknowledged.

"Hopefully we did a pretty good job of it. If any British viewers watch the American version, I think they will enjoy it."

Whitehall was speaking to DS to promote his upcoming live tour Jack Whitehall Gets Around.

Liz Friedlander is set to direct CBS’ Kevin Williamson drama pilot, from Wbtv. Written and executive produced by The Following creator Williamson, the psychological thriller centers around a pair of detectives who handle stalking incidents for the Threat Management Unit of the Lapd. Friedlander has a shorthand with Williamson — she has directed multiple episodes of The Following and Williamson’s CW series The Vampire Diaries and helmed the pilot and multiple episodes of CW’s The Secret Circle, which Williamson executive produced. Craig Zisk (New Girl, Parks & Recreation) is set to direct NBC’s comedy pilot Two To Go, from Universal TV, David Janollari Entertainment and Jason Bateman’s Aggregate Films. Written by Kevin Chelsey and Bryan Shukoff, the project centers on long-time best friends Kurt and Laura who grapple with the challenges of modern-day dating. This marks the second pilot for Zisk this season — he just wrapped ABC’s comedy An American Education.

Exclusive: Universal Pictures has just signed a deal for Pitch Perfect co-star Brittany Snow to rejoin Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson for the sequel. Elizabeth Banks is set to direct Pitch Perfect 2, from Universal and Gold Circle. A May 15, 2015, release is set. Kay Cannon is back writing the sequel, and Paul Brooks is producing with Banks and Max Handelman. Universal’s Peter Cramer is overseeing. Snow, repped by ICM Partners and Magnolia Entertainment, is set as the female lead opposite Jack Whitehall in ABC’s single-camera comedy pilot An American Education, based on a BBC Three series.
