Perariyathavar or Names Unknown in English is a Malayalam film that won two National Film Awards in 2014. Director Bijukumar Damodaran made a brilliant movie showcasing most of the social issues that occur in societies, while simultaneously showing a beautiful relationship between a father and his son. The plot is great and keeps you hooked. The cinematography is great. The film is dark. Certain scenes are shocking and painful to look at. But that's the reality the underprivileged are facing.
The casts are perfect and deserve much praise. Suraj Venjaramoodu gave one of his career's best performances and won a National Film Award for Best Actor. Govardhan B.K as Suraj's son too gave a brilliant performance. His innocent face coupled with certain scenes brought tears.
There are certain scenes where the director showed the comparison of two realities. The scene where the buffaloes are tied together and are taken to someplace in an auto, and behind this auto there's another auto where labourers are going to earn their livelihood. This scene is my favourite scene of this movie among others. This film is one of the best movies I've watched so far. Malayalam industry is really producing certain gems that are worthy of winning an Oscar.
